Movement is a skill, and as such requires practice. With all the hype around functional exercise it is perhaps important to remember that all exercise is in fact functional as it is performing a function, the question is if that particular function/exercise/movement is beneficial for your training goal or for your life in general.
On the whole, we all need to move better, so taking a look at the exercises you are performing and ask the question, is this improving my movement, reducing my chance of injury or getting me closer to my goal? The answer should hopefully be yes to all three!!
