Staying hydrated is always important, but WA’s hot summer makes it essential. Hot weather increases how much fluid your body loses, and if you’re recovering from weight loss surgery, your hydration needs can be even higher.

Drinking regularly through the day helps with energy, digestion, healing, and preventing dizziness or fatigue. After surgery, your stomach holds less, so sipping steadily is far more effective than trying to catch up later.

A small reminder can make a big difference. Keep a bottle with you, choose fluids you enjoy, and make hydration part of your daily routine this summer. Your body will thank you for it.

Stopping GLP-1 medications can lead to changes that surprise many people. Research shows that once the medication leaves your system, the body often pushes back toward its previous weight, even when healthy eating and movement continue. Most people regain a significant amount over the following months, and metabolic improvements such as blood pressure, waist size, and glucose control can also drift back toward baseline. These changes aren’t a sign of failure. They’re a reflection of how strongly the body defends its starting point.
Before you take the first step with medication, speak with a specialist who can help you understand what’s right for your body and your long-term health.

Nausea can be common in the early stages after weight loss surgery, and it’s usually your body’s way of adjusting to smaller portions, slower eating, and new routines. Taking your time with meals, choosing gentle foods, and staying hydrated with small, regular sips can make a big difference.

If you’re feeling unwell, slowing down is okay. Your stomach is healing, and it needs time. If nausea persists or becomes difficult to manage, our team is here to help and guide you through the next steps.

There’s nothing ‘easy’ about living with obesity, and there’s nothing ‘cheating’ about choosing a proven medical treatment to improve your health.

Weight loss surgery isn’t a shortcut. It’s a tool backed by decades of research, helping patients take control of conditions like diabetes, sleep apnoea, high blood pressure, and joint pain. It still takes effort, commitment, lifestyle change, and support, and that’s exactly why we’re here.

If you’ve been carrying the weight of judgment, let this be your reminder: choosing surgery is choosing your health. And that’s never something to feel guilty about.

SADI-S, also known as SIPS, is a specialised procedure that combines a sleeve gastrectomy with a small change to how the intestine absorbs food. It helps reduce hunger, improves fullness, and lowers calorie absorption, which can lead to strong long-term weight loss and improvement in conditions like diabetes.
For the right patient, SADI-S can offer significant results with less dumping and a generally smooth recovery. It does, however, require lifelong supplements and regular follow-up, as some people may notice changes in digestion.

📍 Book a consultation to find out whether SADI-S is the right option for you.

Seasonal weight changes are completely normal. Research shows small gains around Christmas, Easter, weekends, and even changes in weather. These shifts don’t mean you’ve failed; they simply reflect real life and routine changes.

When you understand these patterns, it becomes easier to plan ahead, make gentle choices, and feel more in control across the year. It’s not about restriction, just awareness and support.

At Perth Weight Loss & Surgery, we help you build confidence through every season of your journey.
