In 2018 we opened our purpose-built hearing clinic at 203 Ontario Avenue where we have a dedicated team of clinicians and administrators to help you with all of your hearing health needs. Recognising Symptoms Requiring Earwax Management 🦻

At Country Hearing Care, we emphasise that many symptoms, while often attributed to earwax, may indicate other underlying issues. A professional visual inspection is the only definitive way to determine your earwax status.

While earwax is self-cleaning, accumulation can occur, leading to blockages. It is crucial to never attempt self-removal. We strongly advise against the use of cotton buds or ear candles due to the risk of injury and compacting the wax.

However, certain signs may indicate that a professional wax assessment is necessary:

Is Your Child Having Hearing Difficulties? 👶👂

Detecting a hearing problem early is crucial for your child's development. Look out for these common signs:

👉 Frequent Ear Touching: If your child is often pulling at or touching their ears, it could signal an infection.

👉 Lack of Response to Sound: Not being startled by loud sounds, not babbling by 6–9 months, or delayed speech (e.g., no one-word expressions at 12–18 months).

👉 Behavioural Cues: Being frequently inattentive, failing to respond to conversation-level speech, answering inappropriately, or talking too loudly.

If you notice these signs, we can help! Some children are diagnosed with a permanent sensorineural hearing loss (inner ear problem). In these cases, we provide comprehensive care and ensure an immediate onward referral to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.
