🌟 *Important Update on Universal Bulk Billing* 🌟

Dear Community,

You may have been hearing a lot in the media about changes to universal bulk billing in our healthcare system as part of our government's incentives. After careful consideration, we want to address why we believe it may not be the most viable option for our clinic at this time:

💡 *Quality of Care*: While the idea of universal bulk billing sounds appealing, it is essential to recognize that quality healthcare services require adequate funding. Implementing this system could strain our healthcare resources, potentially leading to longer wait times and diminished patient care.

💰 *Sustainability*: The financial implications cannot be overlooked. Transitioning to universal bulk billing could significantly impact healthcare providers' incomes, discouraging some from practicing in our area (which is already under strain). We want to ensure that our existing healthcare professionals are motivated and supported, which ultimately benefits all patients. We also can not overlook the ever-increasing 'cost of living' which not only affects the general population but also in sustaining a business with increasing overheads, utilities, supplies etc. It's not just about what the doctors & staff get paid. We completely understand that private billing may not be suited to all and we will try to accommodate those in genuine need.

At this time our current billing policies will remain in place. We believe our government should be supporting private business and not competing with them. This post is not meant to be critical to those who have opted to go with universal bulk billing, it's to address our view as to why it may not work for everyone.

As always, we appreciate the ongoing support from our patients and their families. We will do our best to keep our costs low and maintain the level of care you expect.

Men this one is for you!

Do you get your car checked when the warning lights come on? Your own health is just as important. ⚠️

Prostate cancer affects up to 1 in 6 Aussie men. It's most common in older men (over 50), especially those who've had a close relative diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Early prostate cancer doesn't usually cause symptoms. If any unusual symptoms do show, it's important to get your prostate checked.

Here are some signs you need to check under your hood (not that one):
👉 frequent urination
👉 pain while urinating
👉 blood in your urine or semen
👉 a weak stream while urinating
👉 feeling like your bladder is not empty after passing urine
👉 pain in your lower back, upper thighs or hips
👉 unexplained weight loss.

A prostate check usually starts with a prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test. PSA is a protein made by cells in your prostate gland. This test won't diagnose cancer, but it may show if you need further testing. Other tests might include a digital re**al exam (DRE), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and biopsy.

If you have any risk factors or symptoms (especially if you're over 50), speak to your healthcare provider about your prostate screening options.
