Business Administration Trainee | Traineeship – Certificate III Business Administration at Heather Senior Care & NDIS

Heather Senior Care & NDIS is a growing Queensland business that provides exceptional care and services to our elderly clients both in Home Care and NDIS Support, including cooking, cleaning, community access (outings to medical appointments, shopping, social events, etc.), personal care, and other support services. We provide support for a range of different groups including seniors, and people with sensory, intellectual and mobility challenges.

As a Business Administration Trainee, you will be one of the first points of contact for people calling or visiting the Heather Senior Care & NDIS office in Milton, QLD. You will help provide friendly, high-quality support to clients, staff, and visitors while assisting with administrative tasks. This role is all about being professional, approachable, and respectful, especially when handling confidential information. You’ll ensure everyone who interacts with us feels welcomed, valued, and supported, both in person and over the phone.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with older people. Someone who sees the value, wisdom and individuality in every person. THE ROLE
We are growing and have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Clinical Care Partner (RN) to join our fantastic and friendly team in the Brisbane (North) region. Our Clinical Care Partners play a vital role in the daily lives of our clients, creating a supportive environment with a focus on wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be required to support our prospective and current senior clients in navigating the full cycle of their Support at Home package. From initial meeting through to navigating the My Aged Care system, you will work with your clients to develop goals that promote choice, control, and independence. These goals drive the development of individualised budgets and support plans, allowing clients to thrive in their own homes.

World Arthritis Day, held every year on October 12, is a global campaign to shine a light on the realities of living with arthritis and related conditions. While often unseen, these conditions affect hundreds of millions—bringing pain, disability, and emotional strain. This day provides a platform for individuals, caregivers, healthcare providers, and advocates to educate the public, promote early detection and treatment, and support people “walking with pain” every day.

Arthritis is an umbrella term for a wide range of inflammatory conditions affecting the joints. It is the 2nd most common cause of early retirement due to ill-health in Australia, affecting around 3.7 million people. While it can affect anyone, no matter their age, 49% of those aged 75 and over were estimated to be living with the condition.

If you have any questions about arthritis or are looking for assistance with support groups, resources or community programs, Arthritis Australia runs the Arthritis Infoline at 1800 011 041. The Infoline is staffed by health professionals and specially trained volunteers who are able to answer most questions about living with arthritis.

Today is World Mental Health Day! It is a day to come together to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world, and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

As a company working within the senior care sector as a Home Care Package provider, we acknowledge that Mental distress and mental health conditions are common in late life. This can be due to multiple factors, including changing living arrangements (moving from your home to a retirement village or aged care facility), frailty and loss of independence, and grief and loss of friends and partners.

For some older people, talking about their mental health does not come easy; starting a conversation can feel daunting. However, by asking for help, you are acknowledging that things are not how you want them to be. It is not about giving up your independence and autonomy; it’s about receiving support to help you through a tough time.

This year, Mental Health Australia is encouraging everyone to connect with the communities that matter to them. Connecting with our communities can help us feel cared for and supported, which is good for our mental health. The 9th of October is World Sight Day! You are invited to and help make the case for eye care that is accessible, available, and affordable for everyone, everywhere.

In Australia, aged-related Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss in those over 50. About one in seven have some evidence of the disease. Affecting the macular region of the retina, harming central vision and leaving peripheral vision intact, it can inhibit you from doing the activities you enjoy.

Being diagnosed with an eye condition doesn’t mean you need to stop living life on your terms. While there is currently no cure for age-related macular degeneration, you can minimise your risk by having regular eye health check ups with your Optometrist.

If you’ve been diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration, it is recommended by the Macular Disease Foundation to monitor your vision daily with an Amsler grid. At Heather Senior Care, our team of fantastic carers support many older people living with Dementia. With an estimated 433,300 Australians living with dementia and 1.7 million people involved in their care, chances are you know someone who is impacted by dementia. We know that support from friends, family and their community can make a real difference to people impacted by dementia. This Dementia Action Week (15-21 September 2025) we challenge everyone in the community to reach out and reconnect to someone impacted by dementia because nobody can do it alone.

World First Aid Day was created to raise awareness about the crucial role of First Aid in saving lives and is held annually every second Saturday in September. First Aid is something that we take seriously at Heather, with all carers required to be certified. This training ensures that our team is equipped with the necessary skills to assist in an emergency, and to help keep those we care for safe. First Aid isn’t just for emergencies; it’s about being prepared.

The theme for this year is “First Aid & Climate Change”. In this context, First Aid plays a crucial role in preventing and managing emergency situations such as heat waves, storms, floods, droughts, and forest fires. Heat is the most frequent cause of extreme weather-related injury hospitalisations and deaths in Australia. As we head into the warmer months, older adults are much more susceptible to heat stroke, dehydration, or respiratory distress. Training seniors to better recognize the early warning signs of medical emergencies in themselves and others is critical to ensure they feel confident in their environment.
