April 2 marks World Autism Awareness Day ๐ŸคŽ

A day that invites all of us to better understand, include and support people on the autism spectrum, not just today, but every day.

Every person experiences the world differently. Different ways of thinking, communicating and connecting arenโ€™t something to โ€œfixโ€. They're part of what makes each person who they are.

Support can look simple:
โ€ข building trust through consistent, familiar support workers
โ€ข creating calm, structured routines that feel safe and predictable
โ€ข tailoring communication to each personโ€™s needs and preferences
โ€ข supporting independence at home and out in the community
โ€ข working alongside families and support networks with genuine care

Itโ€™s these small, everyday moments that help build confidence, connection and a sense of belonging ๐ŸคŽ

Weโ€™re here to walk alongside individuals and families, providing care that feels safe, understood and tailored, whether thatโ€™s through support work, physiotherapy or nursing.

Today is the beginning of April FALLS month, and itโ€™s a chance to check in on the small things at home that can help keep us steady ๐ŸคŽ

Simple changes can go a long way, like keeping walkways clear, making sure rooms are well lit, wearing supportive shoes, and avoiding rushing. Even things like storing heavier items lower, removing loose rugs, or adding grab rails in the bathroom can make everyday spaces safer to avoid accidental falls.

At Toma Health, our physio team supports people to build strength and balance while also helping identify these little risk factors in the home. Alongside this, our home care team works closely with clients to build supportive routines and simple, practical strategies that help reduce the risk of falls day to day.

We focus on realistic changes that fit into your routine and help you feel more confident on your feet.

Because staying steady isnโ€™t more than preventing a fall - itโ€™s continuing to live with independence, confidence, and quality of life ๐ŸคŽ

If you or someone you care about could use that extra support, our physio team is here.

March 26 marks a global movement dedicated to raising awareness of epilepsy and helping people better understand what it can look like day to day.

In Australia, itโ€™s also about coming together, supporting fundraising efforts, backing research, and strengthening the support available for those living with epilepsy and their families.

At Toma Health, we believe support shows up in the small, everyday ways like taking the time to listen, learning what to do, and creating spaces where people feel safe, seen, and supported, across our support work, physiotherapy, and nursing care.

So on Purple Day, we wear purple, start conversations, and choose to understand a little more, because small efforts matter ๐Ÿ’œ

Harmony Week is a chance to celebrate what makes Australia special - people from all walks of life, cultures, backgrounds and stories coming together.

Every person brings something unique to our communities. Different languages, traditions, beliefs and experiences all add to the rich fabric of who we are as Australians.

Toma Health prides itself on making sure everyone feels welcome, respected and supported. Care should always be a place where people feel safe to be themselves and know they belong.

Harmony Week highlights how kindness, understanding and respect for one another help build stronger, healthier communities for everyone, and as a healthcare provider, Toma Health promotes inclusion and diversity within the workplace and the communities we care for ๐ŸคŽ

International Womenโ€™s Day on 8 March is recognising and celebrating the achievements of women - socially, economically, culturally and politically - while also acknowledging the work still needed to reach true gender equality.

The 2026 theme, โ€œGive to Gain,โ€ highlights that when we support and lift women up through opportunity, respect and kindness, everyone benefits. When women thrive, our families, workplaces and communities become stronger.

Toma Health proudly supports International Womenโ€™s Day as a time to recognise the many ways women contribute care, strength and leadership within our communities.

Today we celebrate the mothers, daughters, colleagues, carers and friends who make a difference every day. When women thrive, we all rise. ๐ŸคŽ

Move itโ€ฆ or rest it?

The Toma Health physio breaks down some simple, everyday examples to help you understand what your body might need.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is allow proper recovery, especially when your body is showing signs it needs protection and assessment first.

Other times, the smarter option is gentle, guided movement, when stiffness and soreness are simply your body asking to move, not shut down completely.

Itโ€™s not always black and white, but understanding the difference can help you recover smarter, not harder.

And as a general rule, if thereโ€™s severe trauma, significant swelling, or loss of function, protect it and get it properly assessed. ๐ŸคŽ

March is a special one on the calendar with the NSW Seniors Festival, which is a statewide celebration recognising the incredible contributions of older Australians to our communities.

March shines a light on connection, respect and inclusion, and on making sure seniors feel seen, valued and supported. Thatโ€™s something we carry with us every day in the work we do.

A big part of what fills our days is spent alongside older members of our community, helping them stay independent, mobile, confident and connected to the life they want to live. Supporting initiatives like the NSW Seniors Festival feels like a natural extension of that.

Growing older should never mean feeling invisible. It should mean being celebrated for the wisdom, resilience and stories that shape our families and neighbourhoods.
Hereโ€™s to staying active, staying connected and honouring the generation that built so much of what we stand on today ๐ŸคŽ

This March, weโ€™re standing with Cancer Council NSW and their incredible community behind The March Charge, which involves a month-long walk/run challenge thatโ€™s all about moving for change and helping fund life-saving cancer research, prevention, and support services.

Health isnโ€™t just what happens inside our clinics, but ensuring that we back the people and causes working every day to help our communities live longer, healthier lives. Walking, running, and getting active, with every step taken and every dollar raised through The March Charge, helps drive research that can make a world of difference for families touched by cancer.

Whether youโ€™re setting a personal goal, getting your crew together, or just cheering on others, weโ€™re honoured to join the momentum behind telling cancer where to go this March ๐Ÿ’›

Weโ€™re proud to stand with The Worldโ€™s Greatest Shave to support mates facing blood cancer.

This cause focuses on community, courage, and rolling up our sleeves (and sometimes our hair) to help make real change. Showing up for each other is at the heart of what we do, and this cause reflects that spirit in the most powerful way.

To everyone shaving, donating, cheering on, or sharing - thank you for being part of something that matters. Together weโ€™re helping fund research and support for those who need it most ๐ŸคŽ
