🎙️ Today we’ll be joining an interview with Siempre Lunes to talk about something many people carry in silence: emotional wounds we hold while continuing to function.

Even when we manage work, family and daily responsibilities, there can be inner exhaustion, tension and emotions that never had a safe space to be felt. This invisible burnout isn’t weakness —it’s survival.

We’ll be talking about:
✨ what happens in the nervous system when we stay in protection mode
✨ why asking for help can feel so difficult
✨ how attachment and early experiences shape the way we “keep going”
✨ signs of emotional exhaustion that we often normalise
✨ simple somatic exercises to return to the body and reduce hypervigilance

Our intention is to create a human, safe space and to remind ourselves that we are not failing; our bodies have been doing what they needed to protect us.

With the right support, it’s possible to live with more calm, clarity and connection —without carrying everything in silence.

🌏 Happy Harmony Week!

Moving to a new country or navigating life changes takes courage. At ThrivePath, we support adults and children to feel safe, connected, and empowered during these transitions.

During major life changes, including migration, we often navigate more than just practical adjustments—we are:

🌿 Finding where we belong
🌿 Holding onto parts of who we are
🌿 Slowly building a new sense of self

These transitions can bring challenges:
• Learning new routines and systems
• Understanding cultural norms and ways of relating
• Building social and community connections
• Managing daily life tasks like housing, transport, and finances

How we help:
• 💫 EMDR Therapy – safely process distressing memories, reduce anxiety, flashbacks, and emotional overwhelm
• 🛠 DBT Skills – mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to manage strong emotions and everyday challenges

With trauma-informed support, ThrivePath helps adults and children:
🌿 Maintain cultural identity while adapting to change
🌿 Strengthen social and family connections
🌿 Build confidence and resilience in new environments
🌟 Feel grounded, capable, and supported as they navigate life transitions

Finding Calm in the Everyday 🍃

Life is busy — and mine is too. Between work, family, responsibilities, and the constant mental load so many of us carry, it’s easy to move through the day on autopilot. I don’t always pause. Some days — or even weeks — I forget to slow down, and that’s okay.

Mindfulness isn’t about perfection. It’s about gently returning to the present moment whenever you remember.

Some of the mindful moments I try to practise:
• Morning walks or runs — noticing the fresh air, the sounds around me, and the rhythm of my body, even if I only have 30 minutes.
• Family hikes — soaking up time together, even if it’s just during school holidays.
• Showering — paying attention to the warmth of the water and the sensations on my skin.
• Colouring — focusing on patterns and colours; it took me almost six months to finish one drawing, and that’s okay — progress isn’t always quick, but every small step counts.
• Caring for my indoor plants — noticing their growth and resilience, even when I forget to water them. They still find a way to thrive 🌿

I also try to pause for three slow breaths between tasks, sit with my coffee instead of rushing, notice the sky changing at sunset, and truly listen when someone I love is speaking.

These moments are small. Ordinary. Sometimes inconsistent.

But they help ground me, regulate my nervous system, and bring me back to myself.

At ThrivePath, this is part of what we gently explore in therapy — how small, intentional practices can support regulation, connection, and healing over time 🌿

You don’t need a perfect routine. Sometimes one small mindful moment is enough to begin shifting something within.

If you’re curious about starting therapy, we offer a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether ThrivePath might feel like the right fit for you.

🌿 Exciting Milestone for ThrivePath! 🌿

I’m delighted to share that I’ve received my EMDRRA membership certificate. 🎉

This membership isn’t automatic — it’s something clinicians earn through a rigorous EMDR training pathway, including structured workshops and dedicated consultation. To achieve Full Membership with the EMDR Association of Australia, I completed:

🌿 A recognised basic EMDR training programme (around 50 hours covering both theory and skills)
🌿 A minimum of 10 hours of consultation with an EMDRRA-accredited consultant

While this certificate is awarded to me personally, it reflects the quality, integrity, and professional commitment behind ThrivePath — bringing trauma-informed practices and evidence-based EMDR therapy into every session. I have spent dedicated daily hours delivering EMDR therapy to my clients, witnessing first-hand the resilience, growth, and positive change that emerges through this work.

Every session at ThrivePath is about connection, support, and growth. Seeing clients develop confidence, navigate challenges, and move closer to the lives they dream of is why we do this work. 🌱

This milestone also reflects our ongoing commitment to professional development and the most current, evidence-based approaches. EMDR therapy has become my major professional passion, and this year I’ll continue strengthening my EMDR skills so ThrivePath can continue bringing effective, trauma-informed care to children and adults.

Keep following ThrivePath to see how we integrate EMDR and trauma-informed practices into meaningful, client-centred therapy — helping people heal, thrive, and build safer, more connected lives. 🌿

Mindfulness as Self-Care During the Holidays 🎄🌿

The holiday season can be joyful, but also busy, emotional, and sometimes overwhelming. Alongside celebrations, many people notice stress, fatigue, or big feelings. Mindfulness can be a gentle, practical way to care for your mental health during this time.

✨ A common misconception
Mindfulness is often confused with meditation. While meditation can help practise mindfulness, mindfulness itself is not meditation. You don’t need to sit perfectly still, clear your mind, or “do it right.” Mindfulness can be practised in everyday moments — especially when we slow down and notice what is happening right now.

🧠 What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment with openness and without judgement. This includes noticing:
• 💭 Your thoughts
• ❤️ Your emotions
• 👤 Body sensations
• 🌿 Your surroundings

It’s about being fully present, rather than stuck in the past or worrying about the future.

🌟 Ways to practise mindfulness using your senses

👀 Sight – Notice colours, shapes, light, shadows, or movement. Look at photos or everyday objects and observe details you normally miss.

👂 Sound – Pause and listen to nearby or distant sounds. Notice volume, tone, and rhythm without judging or analysing.

👃 Smell – Breathe slowly and notice scents, such as fresh air, food cooking, plants, or rain.

👄 Taste – Eat or drink slowly. Notice flavour, texture, temperature, and how the taste evolves.

✋ Touch – Notice sensations in your body, like feet on the ground, clothing texture, or holding something soft or smooth.

💡 A reminder
There’s no “right” way to practise. If your mind wanders, or you think “I’m not doing this properly,” that’s okay. Simply notice and gently return your attention to the present. Mindfulness is observing thoughts without judgement.

This holiday season, mindfulness can help you stay grounded, reduce stress, and enjoy the present moment. 💛

Last week, we had the joy of sharing a session on Mental Health, Stress, and Anxiety with the Hispanic Women's Association of SA (HWASA) and some of the inspiring Hispanic women who are part of this community.

HWASA is on a mission to support Hispanic women and their families through events and activities that nurture their wellbeing.

We were thrilled to have such an engaging and interactive session, with many thoughtful questions about mental health. Incredible stories of women’s journeys were shared — it was a true privilege to be part of a space that was not only informative but also deeply healing.

We talked about what mental health really means, that it’s something we all have, just like physical health and how stress and anxiety are normal human responses, not signs of weakness.

Here are a few reminders that stay with us:
✨ Mental health can be strengthened through care and connection.
✨ Stress and anxiety are signals — our body’s way of asking for support.
✨ Managing them starts with self-awareness, rest, and compassion.

Thank you HWASA for creating such a beautiful and supportive community for Hispanic women in South Australia

If stress or anxiety have been part of your days lately, and you’d like to talk or get support, reach out, support is just one call away.

What happens to our brain when we live with trauma?

When we face danger, our brain’s alarm system, the amygdala, activates to help us respond through fight, flight, or freeze and dissociation.

These are protective reactions designed to keep us safe in the moment, yet they can also make it harder to live the life we want.

During a traumatic event, intense emotions and bodily reactions are linked to stress chemicals such as adrenaline, cortisol, and noradrenaline, causing the brain to encode the memory differently from everyday experiences

The hippocampus, the part that organises and contextualises memories, can become disrupted, leaving some memories to feel as though the danger never truly ended.

This is how trauma can keep both the brain and body in survival mode, even long after the threat has passed.

If this resonates with you, at Thrivepath we offer evidence-based therapy, a safe environment with a trained, professional and friendly team ready to support you.
