We recently discovered that our International Women’s Day post — prepared to celebrate the incredible women who shape Automobility — was scheduled but never published. While it’s a little late, we believe acknowledging and celebrating these amazing women is far more important than timing.

So today, we’re sharing the message as it was originally intended.

At Automobility, the passion, expertise, and dedication of the women on our team help drive our work forward every day. We’re grateful for the impact they make across our organisation and the community we support.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine what Automobility would become — the number of people we’ve supported and the lives we’ve been able to touch along the way.

I’ve always thought of this as my legacy. My grandmother spent years giving back through community groups like the CWA, Girl Guides and Red Cross, and she believed strongly in leaving the world a better place and helping others where you can. That stayed with me.

I’d like to think we’ve done that over the past 25 years, and we’re not finished yet. There’s still more to do, more people to support, and more journeys to help make possible. That’s what keeps us moving forward every day.

Maybe one day, I’ll get to retire, knowing I’ve made a lasting difference.

Over the years, we’ve travelled far and wide, attending expos and meeting communities. Every trip has been about listening, learning, and understanding what mobility looks like in different parts of the country.

These travels have shaped how we work and why we do it. Because access and independence matter everywhere, not just in one place.

From a modest warehouse in the early days to the purpose-built facility we work from today, our workspace has grown alongside our team, our capabilities, and our impact.

What hasn’t changed is the hands-on care, attention to detail, and pride in the work done inside these walls.

Twenty-five years on, we've manufactured 3500 cars, with an estimated 3000 still on the road.

This is where ideas become reality and where mobility solutions continue to take shape every day.

Recognise this face?

These two photos tell a story: our founder Jeff, then and now. Same curiosity, same commitment, with years of experience in between.

Automobility began in the late 1990s, when Jeff was working as an automotive engineering consultant. While consulting for a company exploring wheelchair access, he saw the potential even when the business itself didn’t last.

Instead of walking away, Jeff backed the idea. He secured the intellectual property he’d developed, invested what he could, and started again from the ground up. That decision became the foundation of Automobility with operations commencing in February 2001.​

Today, while we've grown larger than we imagined, our purpose remains the same: changing people's lives with practical, well-engineered mobility solutions that support independence.

From then to now, that purpose continues to guide everything we do.

What followed has been 25 years of problem-solving, learning, and listening — shaped by the people we’ve worked alongside and the purpose that first set us in motion.
