Take this forecast seriously. Storms are definitely expected across the whole of Victoria tomorrow. Make sure you have the VicEmergency app installed and running on your phones. Charges your devices and powerbanks. Tie down anything loose outside that can’t be moved inside. Put cars under cover if possible. Stay safe!

I'm posting the thunderstorm forecast for Wednesday earlier than normal, as severe storms may be occurring in western Victoria during the early hours of Wednesday.

Severe thunderstorms are expected throughout Victoria on Wednesday.

The timing of these storms is anticipated as follows:

Western Victoria - morning.
Central Victoria - morning and afternoon.
Eastern Victoria - afternoon and evening.

Thunderstorms are forecast to develop in a band of cloud over western Victoria in the early hours of Wednesday morning, then extend eastward with the cloud band throughout the day.

Additional thunderstorms are possible following the initial cloud band, as colder unstable air moves across Victoria.

DAMAGING WINDS are possible with any thunderstorms, and there is a risk of locally DESTRUCTIVE WINDS along the southwest coastal fringe.

A severe weather warning has been issued for damaging winds for most of the state on Wednesday - https://reg.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings

The weather for Father’s Day is looking pretty nasty. Make sure you’re prepared.

Severe weather including damaging winds, patchy rain and thunderstorms is expected to cross much of the state tomorrow.

Early preparation is the best defence against storms. Now is the time to:

⛱ Check that loose items such as outdoor furniture, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured well before the storm arrives.

🏘️ Park your car undercover and away from trees, and clean your gutters, downpipes and drains to ensure they are not blocked.

🚗 If you are driving, be alert to dangerous road conditions, including fallen trees and powerlines.

⛈️ Find out how to stay safe during a storm on the Victoria State Emergency Service website: www.ses.vic.gov.au/know-your-hazards/storm

🔌 The risk of localised power outages increases in severe weather. Learn more: www.energy.vic.gov.au/safety-and-emergencies/power-outages

Dr Miriam Bartlett recently attended the ADATS (Diabetes Technology) and ADS (Australasian Diabetes Congress) on the Gold Coast. It was 4 days of amazing learning and networking. Unfortunately the weather was very wet especially on Thursday with local flooding and constant rain. But the sunshine returned for the last day of the conferences.

These conferences are in Melbourne next year and combined with International conferences so that’s very exciting.

Do you need to see an Endocrinologist?

To book an appointment to see an Endocrinologist at Mooroolbark Specialist Centre you need a referral from your Doctor and then you ring us on 9725-3003 to book.

When you contact us you will be offered an appointment and your referral will be reviewed by the Doctor to make sure it’s a condition they treat and that the wait time is going to be safe for you.

If there referral is best managed by another Doctor then you and your referring Doctor will be notified and a suggestion will be given of who is best to see.

If there wait time is not suitable for you then the Doctor may have an urgent appointment available earlier or it will be recommended that you see one of the other Endocrinologists in our clinic that has earlier appointments available.

If you have a referral for an Endocrinologist (even one not at our clinic) then we can accept that referral (as long as it hasn’t been used already to see someone else). So if you are referred to see one of our Endocrinologists and then end up seeing another one at our clinic then you don’t need to get a different referral.

Please ring our friendly reception team on 9725-3003 if you want to book an appointment or if you have any further questions.
