Women’s Health Physiotherapy at Stronger Bodies 💛
Women’s health physio supports women through pregnancy, postpartum, sport and menopause by treating pelvic floor and musculoskeletal concerns including pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse, sexual pain and recovery after childbirth or surgery.
Pelvic pain is incredibly common (affecting 1 in 5 women and 47% of Australian women in the past 5 years) and may involve bloating, bladder/bowel issues, painful in*******se or tampon insertion. Physio is proven to be safe and effective for conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS and vaginismus.
During peri-menopause and menopause, reduced oestrogen can weaken pelvic floor muscles and affect bladder control and sexual function with over 55% of post-menopausal women experiencing incontinence and prolapse risk increasing with age. Physiotherapy helps restore strength, reduce symptoms and support recovery after pelvic surgeries.
Female athletes of all ages may also experience pelvic floor dysfunction. Stress urinary incontinence affects 25.9% of young athletes, up to 75.6% of volleyball players, 30% of netballers and over 40% of female powerlifters.
In the post-partum period, physiotherapy supports recovery from abdominal separation, pelvic floor weakness, tears or episiotomies, prolapse and incontinence which affects 1 in 3 new mums.
During pregnancy, physio can assist with back and pelvic pain, prepare the pelvic floor for birth and reduce the risk of tearing, with 67% of women leaking when they sneeze/laugh and around 50% experiencing low back pain.
At Stronger Bodies, we’re here to support women at every stage with evidence-based care, pelvic health expertise and personalised rehabilitation.
