Reactivity isn’t a failure. It’s your nervous system doing its best to keep order. The goal isn’t to stop reacting altogether, but to create a pause long enough to choose a different response.

In the moment, that pause can be as simple as stopping the interaction (not the relationship), taking one slow breath, and reminding yourself: Nothing needs to be fixed right now.

Before correcting or explaining, anchor to yourself. Ask: Does my child need control or connection?
Connection doesn’t mean permissive. It means regulated leadership.

Calm isn’t soft. It’s steady, clear, and intentional.

This isn’t about being calm all the time—it’s about repairing faster and leading with more intention. Progress, not perfection.

What if the only thing holding you back isn’t discipline… but permission?

I had this thought today and felt called to share it.
So often, we say we’re “stuck.
We tell ourselves stories about why we can’t get up early, can’t go for the walk, can’t start yet.

But when you really look at it, the problem isn’t motivation.
It’s that we haven’t given ourselves permission.

Permission to get up.
Permission to begin imperfectly.
Permission to do the dirty reps, the slow steps, the unglamorous starts.

That’s all progress actually asks of us.

So today, take a moment and reflect

Our Story

I am a relationship and personal transformative coach. My mission is to help couples and individuals to unlock their full potential in their relationship and lives.

I have been with my wife for 18 years, and throughout that time we have had many challenges, including three separations, our marriage continues because we are both prepared to make changes within ourselves and how we work with each other. Ironically, I thought our relationship was the best it had ever been following our separation in 2013. But we had failed to see it had gone into autopilot. Yes, even as a therapist and coach, this can still happen. This year in May, my wife said she wanted to leave me. She wasn’t in love with me anymore because she had lost the spark in the relationship. However, she still loves me as a friend. It left me very confused at the time.

I had two choices. I could see this as a bad thing, become depressed and make the situation worse or; I could choose between seeing this as a good thing and look at the relationship differently. After the first week of trying to understand how this has happened, I put everything that I learnt being a transformative coach, into my relationship with my wife. By showing up differently and taking 100% responsibility in my part of the marriage only, the only part I have control in, it helped me understand my wife and our relationship on a whole new level. It only took four weeks for our relationship to reconnect and to become stronger. We both now are200% committed to our relationship (100% from me and 100% from my wife) all because we are showing up differently and we know the importance of putting the relationship/marriage first.

My work over the last ten years has been in learning to understand personal development, leadership, psychology, human behaviour, and how the mind works. I have spent five years as a therapist and have gone back to coaching using my unique approach.
