We're turning 3 - and we couldn't have done this without you. We gather to celebrate an anniversary, and honour a space that has held our stories.

Vai Yoga began as a vision—a quiet idea rooted in movement, healing, and connection. I hope everyone builds physical and mental strength to face practical aspects of life through yoga movement. We run yoga classes on the mat as well as chair yoga for seniors in aged care facilities and community centre.

Over the past 8 years (3 years in the Morley studio), it has grown into a community. Whether you first walked through the door seeking flexibility, stress relief, or just a moment away from the chaos of daily life, we’ve welcomed you with open arms. We support each other. This is a place where it’s okay to fall, to laugh, and to simply be.

To our incredible instructors: thank you for your patience, and your dedication to guide us. To our members: thank you for showing up, for rolling out your mats even on the hard days, for supporting one another, for sharing smiles, and for making this space warmth. To Bassendean 55 Plus Association, thank you for being so caring and accepting new ideas. We’ve organized mental health seminars to help older people understand range of emotions and manage emotions.

I also want to take a moment to thank Ryan. I’m deeply grateful for your support. Thank you.

As we celebrate this milestone, let’s remember that yoga is not just a practice—it’s a way of living. It teaches us to breathe through discomfort, to find balance in chaos, and to return to ourselves again and again.

We are thrilled to share that our recent seminar 'Understanding Emotions: A Path to Better Mental Health' at Bassendean 55 Plus Association was a success!

With over 20 passionate attendees, we explored functions of emotions (happiness, fear, sadness and anger), learned to validate negative emotions and broke the cycle of ruminations. The session sparked meaningful conversations and empowered participants to support themselves and others more effectively.

A heartfelt thank you to Bassendean 55 Plus Association for the opportunity, and community members who made this event so impactful. Your openness, insight and compassion created a space of genuine connection and growth.

Self-judgement may unconsciously be used as a coping mechanism to reduce criticism from others and avoid emotions. However, this may create negative self-image in the long term. Through yoga practice, we can move towards self-compassion. Yoga is about personal experience and there's no "right" or "wrong" way to practice. It promotes a sense of peace and reduces anxiety.

Denise has been helping Vai Yoga run chair yoga program for seniors and do some yoga covers in the Morley studio since July 2023. She now runs Monday class in the studio. I'd like to introduce Denise to all of you a little bit more.

Hatha yoga for beginners with Denise

Once a corporate lawyer and later a luxury manager, Denise walked away from the predictability of a 9-to-5 to follow a deeper calling—one rooted in movement, mindfulness, and meaning. What began as a personal refuge through stressful days became a life path, leading her to embrace yoga not just as a practice, but as a way of being.

Passionate about Yoga Philosophy and anatomy, Denise blends fluid, breath-led movement with a deep understanding of the mind-body connection. Her classes are both energizing and grounding, encouraging students to find presence on the mat and carry it into their lives.

Beyond yoga, she’s a dedicated practitioner of meditation, theta healing, and holistic wellness. A passionate student of astrology and lover of nature, Denise brings a cosmic and intuitive lens to her teachings—offering more than just a physical practice, but a gateway to inner alignment.

Yoga brings me physical strength and inner strength to face practical aspects of life while working in the corporate for over 10 years in Hong Kong. My passion for yoga encouraged me to leave the banking world and completed a Certificate IV in Yoga Teacher training in Byron Bay.

Since VAI YOGA has established, I focus on restoring people wellbeing, offering yoga for grownups, and chair yoga for seniors. As I am studying at Curtin University, down the path I would like to combine medical based occupational therapy solutions and community based yoga to help people restore health. I am committed to helping and educating people to get active and stay healthy. Services include: Chair Yoga for seniors at aged care facility, Yoga for grownups, kids and family yoga events, kids Yoga birthday party.
