✨ Introducing The Bays Wig Library ✨

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new Wig Library at The Bays Cancer Care Centre Wellness Centre on 8 December! 💖

Thanks to the dedication of our amazing volunteers, Dee and Wendy, this space will offer patients comfort, confidence, and support through every stage of their cancer treatment journey.

Both women were inspired to be part of this program after losing their own sisters to breast cancer, Dee almost 20 years ago and Wendy more recently. When Wendy's daughter Leah who also works at The Bays suggested she get involved, she jumped at the chance and saw this as a way to honour her sister Judy’s memory by supporting others with warmth, empathy, and understanding.

Dee and Wendy have completed specialised training with CelebrityBrandz Wigs to bring this vision to life, and will guide you through a wide range of wigs and headwear.

💇‍♀️ What to expect:
⦁ Private 1:1 wig sessions (between 10am-2pm by appointment)
⦁ A wide range of wigs and headwear to explore
⦁ Friendly, relaxed, and confidential support
⦁ Tea, coffee, and often a laugh along the way!
⦁ Bring a friend, family member, or support person

Every session is free of charge and designed to create a calm, welcoming space where you can take a breath and focus on yourself. 🌸

Dee and Wendy’s generosity and personal experience help honour their sisters’ memories while bringing comfort, dignity, and connection to our patients.

📩 To book a session or for more info, email executive@thebays.com.au or call 03 5976 5275.

Let’s celebrate this beautiful new chapter of care together! 💕

Caring knows no borders! 🌏💛

Bays midwife Meaghan Acreman recently fulfilled a 25-year dream, joining a No Roads Foundation volunteer team in Papua New Guinea to provide nursing and midwifery care to remote villages.

Over 10 days, Meaghan and the team:
✨ Treated 1,076 patients across 7 clinics
✨ Visited 10 remote villages and travelled 17 boat rides & 6 flights
✨ Delivered 2 babies (one even named after the midwives who helped!)
✨ Educated local health workers and volunteers to create sustainable healthcare

“The villagers were so grateful for our care - they carried our bags, fed us, and showed their thanks in every way they could,” Meaghan recalls.

From fashioning glasses for a young boy to creating an antenatal clinic in a school storage cupboard, her creativity, compassion, and dedication made a real difference.

Meaghan returned home inspired:
“Put yourself out there and experience this life-changing work. You’ll come back a different person — with a deeper appreciation for what we have, and for the power of compassion to make a real difference.”

Thank you, Meaghan, for showing that care and compassion truly know no boundaries! 👏

“When Makaira arrived early, having specialised lights at The Bays meant we could stay close to home - and close to each other. Within days, she was back in our arms, happy and healthy.” - Gabby, mum to baby Makaira

💙 Our first-ever Community Impact Report is here!

As an independent, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation, with no ongoing government funding, everything we achieve is powered by our patients, families, volunteers, donors, members and partners across the Peninsula.

The report shares the real stories behind the stats – babies born, surgeries performed, dialysis sessions delivered – and how our community helped make it happen. Whether you volunteer, donate, become a member or simply share our message – you’re part of this.

🎨 ArtCare at The Bays

We’re delighted to feature the beautiful work of local artist Catherine De Boise as part of our ArtCare Program - an initiative that brings art, colour, and calm to our hospital spaces.

Catherine’s serene coastal landscapes capture the ever-changing light of the Mornington Peninsula, offering moments of peace and reflection for patients, families, and staff alike.

As part of this exhibition, Catherine is generously donating a percentage of her artwork sales to The Bays. As a not-for-profit hospital, we’re deeply grateful for her support - and for the many artists who help us continue to care for our community in such meaningful ways.

🖼️ Visit The Bays to see Catherine’s work on display and experience the restorative power of art firsthand.
