We have run numerous sessions to ensure that we capture all of our staff.
I would like to say a big thank you to all our staff that attended as well as our presenters. Well done team.🙏

🐻 Meet Rusty Bear – our gentle giant and much-loved Maremma (or Maremama as we call him!)

Those who visit the farm already know Rusty Bear — he’s always there when someone becomes a little dysregulated or just needs a hug. ❤️

While most Maremmas are livestock guardians, Rusty is a people protector. He has an incredible sense for when someone needs comfort, and he never hesitates to lend a paw. 🐾

Our behavioural therapist Mike has been taking Rusty out to Balyana, where he’s now a bit of a superstar! 🌟
You’ll also see Rusty proudly representing Pearson’s Farm at our community expos, loving every pat and photo opportunity.

We couldn’t imagine the farm without him — our calm, loyal, and gentle friend. 💛

Night Owl Wanted! – Active Overnight Support Worker (Respite – Hackham)

Location: Hackham, Southern Suburbs, Adelaide
Award: SCHADS Level 2
Hours: Active Overnight (no sleep component)
Type: Casual
Organisation: Pearson Services

About the Role

Are you calm, switched-on, and secretly a night owl? 🦉
We’re looking for someone special to join our Hackham respite team to support a young person during overnight stays.

Most nights are quiet – the participant sleeps well but can wake up a few times, and may need a calm voice and gentle reassurance to settle again.
Being alert is key – this young person has previously wandered at night, so we need someone who can stay vigilant and steady under pressure.

You’ll be fully trained and supported by an after-hours contact line.

Initial stay: 1 week coming up soon
Confirmed stay: 21 days in January

🕒 What You’ll Actually Be Doing

Keeping a safe, calm environment overnight 🌙

Staying awake and alert (coffee allowed ☕)

Following a clear Behaviour Support Plan and bedtime routine

Recording notes and updates

Giving gentle support if the participant wakes

Phoning the after-hours line if you need backup (we mean it – call anytime)

💡 Who You Are

Calm, steady, patient – and can think on your feet

Can stay awake all night without losing your sense of humour

Comfortable working one-on-one and following plans

Genuinely cares about safety and wellbeing

Bonus points if you have:

Experience in respite, SIL or behavioural support

NDIS Worker Screening, WWCC, First Aid/CPR, NDIS Orientation

What You’ll Get

Full tailored training before you start

Shadow shifts so you feel confident

24/7 after-hours phone support (yes, really)

Ongoing coaching and mentoring

Casual Level 2 SCHADS pay

The satisfaction of actually making a difference ❤️

Bonus – Ongoing Work Available!

Love the role? We’ve got ongoing shifts available across our Supported Independent Living (SIL) houses and community programs once you’ve settled in.
This is a great way to get your foot in the door with Pearson Services.

🌟 We’re so excited to share some of our favourite expo moments!
Pearsons Farm & Animal Rescue, along with our amazing team, are absolutely thrilled to share some of the wonderful photos captured at the last two expos we attended with our animals.

We always love catching up with new, current, and past participants, and we truly value the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and share stories and services with other providers.
Today’s post features some of our favourite memories — showcasing our animals, fellow providers, and the collaborative spirit that drives us in supporting participants across the NDIS space.

If you took a photo with us at one of the recent expos, keep an eye on your emails. If you haven’t received your photo yet, please reach out to James.sheppard@pahs.com.au.
If you’re interested in learning more about our services — with or without animals involved — we’d love to hear from you.

The DAL EXPO 2025 ended with a huge bang for Pearsons Services!

The 2nd day saw many special visits, from BLUEY! To a ballet dance school, to even our own SIL participants Mark and Mike dropping by to visit the crew.

We want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the Pearsons staff who manned the information desk, looked after our beautiful animals, and engaged with the public and participants throughout the 2 awesome days at the Adelaide Showgrounds.

Next up for us - the KIDS & YOUTH DISABILITY EXPO on the 14th and 15th November at the Netball SA Stadium!

What an incredible first day at the DAL (Disability, Aging, Lifestyle) Expo today at the Showgrounds!

We had amazing visitors for photos, such as Rachael Leahcar - 3rd placed finalist of The Voice Australia, to Disney Princesses, to Spiderman! A huge shout-out to many providers who came over for photos with our adorable farm and rescue animals as well.

Here is a sneak peek from today! We hope to see you tomorrow there and learn more about our diverse range of services!

Look at these three — like peas in a pod! 💚
Adam moved into Galway House 10 days ago and has settled in so well it feels like he’s always been here. The boys’ morning coffee run definitely helps — they all love the chance to have a yarn. ☕️😄

It’s a big week for us too — we’ve put the final touches on our new SIL house and Molly moved in today. Rachel (her match) arrives Friday, and we’re still looking for one more lady to complete this ladies-only home.

Interested in Supported Independent Living (SIL) with us?
