🌈 When the farm finds the rainbow… 🌈

Pearson’s Farm & Animal Rescue are so excited to be attending the Source Disability Expo this Saturday and Sunday at Adelaide Convention Centre!

This year we’ve added a splash of colour to some of our feathered (and woolly!) friends — safely and lovingly using food-grade colouring — just for the expo… and we think they look super cute! 💛

Come and see our farmyard in full colour, say hello, take some photos, and learn more about how we support young people through connection, confidence and hands-on experiences.

✨ And don’t forget — we’re running a FREE raffle!
First prize is a private tour of the farm for you and your family. 🌾🐄

Make sure you pop by our stand to enter.

📍 Location: Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000
🗓 When: Saturday & Sunday

We can’t wait to see you there!

🌱 WANTED: A REAL GARDENER 🌱

Surely you exist.

Pearson’s Farm & Animal Rescue in Clarendon is looking for an experienced gardener to manage and help expand:

• 1 acre of established vegetable gardens
• Citrus and stone fruit trees
• Additional landscaped and productive garden areas

All within a larger working farm property.

This is not a backyard hobby patch. It is productive, seasonal and requires genuine horticultural knowledge.

Before you apply, a few honest facts:

• It is hot in summer. Very hot.
• It is cold in winter. Very cold.
• It is muddy when it rains.
• This is real outdoor work.

We previously had:
– A gardener who quit after 4 hours because of the weather.
– An applicant who couldn’t tell the difference between a w**d and a plant.

Please don’t be either of those people.

What we actually need:

• Proven experience managing large vegetable gardens
• Knowledge of citrus and stone fruit tree care (pruning, feeding, seasonal management)
• Confidence with irrigation systems
• Strong w**d identification skills
• Ability to manage soil health and crop rotation
• Physical stamina and resilience
• Initiative and reliability

But here’s the exciting part…

We are expanding.

We are looking to:

• Develop and expand garden areas
• Improve productivity
• Re-forest areas around our dam
• Continue building a sustainable and beautiful working farm

This is an opportunity to shape and grow something meaningful.

What you get:

• Stunning views every single day
• A diverse and expanding garden environment
• Unlimited manure (yes, really)
• A supportive, down-to-earth team
• Work that genuinely makes a difference within a registered charity

This is real gardening. It’s physical. It’s seasonal. It’s rewarding.

If you genuinely know your way around vegetables and fruit trees — and you’re excited about building and expanding something special — we would love to hear from you.

Its the Lunar New year 2026 this month, and its the Year of The Horse! And we all know how much Pearsons Services love our horses big and small at our farms.

We love our rich cultural diversity at Pearsons Services, and today we feature Vincent - one of our Support Coordinators -

"I was born in Shandong Province, China, which is approximately two and a half hours from Beijing by high-speed train. My hometown has a dry climate similar to that of Adelaide, which made it relatively easy for me to adapt to the local environment when I relocated to Australia in 2020.

Both my hometown and Adelaide are smaller cities known for their friendly communities and welcoming atmosphere. Because of these similarities, I have found Adelaide to be a very comfortable and enjoyable place to live, and moving here has been a positive decision for me.

Chinese New Year is the most significant traditional festival for me. During this period, I usually take part in various cultural activities, such as honouring my ancestors and spending time with family.

While my family is based in China, I continue these traditions in Australia by celebrating with friends and maintaining close connections with my loved ones. As part of the celebrations, I also participate in a video call with my family in China to exchange New Year greetings, which often takes place very early in the morning.
This allows me to stay connected to my cultural heritage and family despite the distance".

🌿 NDIS Respite That Supports Participants and Gives Families a Break 🌿

At Pearson’s Services, we deliver individualised NDIS respite that supports wellbeing, independence, and progress toward personal NDIS goals.

We offer respite across two designated respite houses in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, with easy access to our Clarendon farm, as well as on-farm respite at our Myponga property.

👥 Support ratios from 1:1 through to 1:3, based on individual needs. For those who love animals and farm life
Participants can enjoy time on our working farms, meeting our Highland cows — including two young calves who love people and going for walks with you. You’ll also meet our Valais Blacknose sheep (often called the cutest sheep in the world), hang out with our horses and learn about the rescue side of the farm, and meet our kangaroos and other native animals. And of course, there’s Kevin Bacon the pig, who loves nothing more than a good snuffle and some company.

🐾 Not everyone enjoys animals — and that’s okay.
For participants who prefer a non-farm environment, our Hackham respite house offers:
• Fully gated grounds
• Nearly an acre of secure outdoor space
• A calm, private setting
• A fully equipped 12 m x 6 m sensory space located at the rear of the property

🌱 All respite stays can be personalised to meet individual NDIS goals, interests, and routines.

We are a registered NDIS provider and have been delivering supports since the inception of the NDIS, with extensive experience in respite, mentoring, community access, and specialised supports.

🌟 We’re Hiring! Two Roles Available – Starting ASAP 🌟

Pearson’s Services is growing, and we’re looking for two amazing people to join our team. If you enjoy variety, working with people, and being part of a values-driven organisation (with the occasional horse or goat thrown in), read on.

🖥️ Administration Superstar (Immediate Start)

We’re looking for an extraordinary, people-loving, highly organised person to join our admin team.

Our current admin legend is heading off on a new adventure and has kindly given us four weeks’ notice, meaning you’ll receive a proper handover and training before stepping into the role.

This role is perfect for someone who:

Is friendly, confident, and happy answering the phone

Loves being the go-to person who keeps everything running smoothly

Can juggle tasks and stay calm when things get busy

Enjoys working as part of a supportive, slightly quirky team

Has a good understanding of the NDIS (or is confident working within it)

The role includes:

Scheduling and rostering using Brevity, including scheduling for our farm programs

Answering phones and responding to enquiries

Preparing simple service agreements

Supporting clinicians, mentors, and farm staff

Helping keep the clinic and office running day to day

If you’re organised, approachable, learn quickly, and don’t get flustered easily, you’ll love this role.

🐴 Group Programs Coordinator (Farm & Community Programs)

We’re also looking for someone to manage and coordinate our group programs, including term-based groups and school holiday programs.

This role suits someone who enjoys planning, creativity, and working with people — especially in programs that involve animals, farms, and community connection.

You’ll be responsible for:

Developing new group programs and improving existing ones

Coordinating term-based groups

Organising and running school holiday programs

Managing bookings, numbers, and staffing

Liaising with families, staff, and clinicians

Supporting programs across our farm and community settings

Ensuring programs run smoothly, safely, and are genuinely engaging

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, confident communicating with others, and comfortable managing lots of moving parts.

🌿 Why Work With Us?

We’re values-driven, down-to-earth, and genuinely support each other as a team.

We work across our clinic, farms, and community spaces — which means no two days are ever the same.

And yes… some days are absolutely chaotic when everything that can go wrong does. You might find yourself helping solve the most unexpected problems — sometimes involving horses, goats, or a quick reset with fresh air 🐐🌿

If you enjoy variety, teamwork, and work that’s never boring, you’ll fit right in.
