💙 International Men’s Day – Celebrating Men and Their Wellbeing 💙

Today we recognise the men and boys in our community and the positive roles they play as fathers, brothers, friends, and colleagues.
International Men’s Day is also a reminder to focus on men’s health and wellbeing — both physical and mental.

Men, remember:
✔️ Regular check-ups can save lives
✔️ It’s okay to talk about how you’re feeling
✔️ Taking care of yourself helps you care for others

Let’s celebrate men everywhere by encouraging open conversations, connection, and support.

🟣 It’s ITP Awareness Week! 🟣
This week, we’re shining a light on Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) — a rare autoimmune bleeding disorder that affects thousands of people around the world, yet remains widely misunderstood.

💜 What is ITP?
Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the body's platelets - the cells that help blood clot. Without enough platelets, people with ITP are at risk of excessive bruising, bleeding, and in rare cases, life-threatening haemorrhages.

💜 Dementia Action Week – September 15-21 💜
Dementia affects over 400,000 Australians, and this week we raise awareness to help improve understanding and support for those living with dementia, their families, and carers.
Dementia is an umbrella term for a range of conditions that affect memory, thinking, and behaviour, and it’s not just a natural part of aging. Early detection and support can improve quality of life and delay symptoms.
🧠 How You Can Help:
• Learn the signs of dementia: forgetfulness, confusion, difficulty communicating, and changes in behaviour.
• Support a loved one or community member by offering practical help and emotional support.
• Volunteer with dementia-related organizations or raise awareness in your community.
📞 Support Services:
• Dementia Australia Helpline: 1800 100 500
• National Dementia Support Program: dementia.org.au
• Alzheimer's Australia: alzheimers.org.au
Together, we can help build a more inclusive, supportive community for those living with dementia. 💜

💛 R U OK? Day – A Conversation Could Change a Life 💛
R U OK? Day is a National Day of Action dedicated to reminding us all to check in with the people around us. It’s about starting a meaningful conversation that could help someone feel supported and less alone.
Asking “Are you OK?” can be the first step in helping someone who may be struggling with life. You don’t need to be an expert - just a good listener.

🗣️ How You Can Help:
1. Ask: “Are you OK?”
2. Listen with an open mind
3. Encourage action - suggest seeing a GP or counsellor
4. Check in again later
Let’s create a community where everyone feels safe, heard, and supported.
