As we head into the holidays and celebrate Christmas and a new year, hopefully with family and/ or loved ones, I'd like to wish everyone a happy and safe break.
Let's also remember those who don't have anyone or have had a tough year and need extra support.

I will be taking a three week break, starting today, the 20th of December and returning to work on Monday the 13th of January, 2025.
Take care everyone.🀩πŸ₯³βœ¨οΈπŸ™πŸŽ„πŸ’–

Last year I completed the Professional Certificate in Myofascial Release which is a treatment that I now offer to clients.
What is Myofascial Release?
Firstly, fascia is connective tissue composed of collagen, elastin and polysaccharide gel complex called ground substance, which forms a three dimensional interdependent system of strength, support, elasticity and cushion. In appearance it looks like a mass of thin webbing, like spider web has been interwoven in several layers.
It allows the body to retain normal shape and maintain vital organs in correct position, determines the length and function of its muscular component, is a network of information exchange, influencing and influenced by every cell, structure and system in the body, it separates, surrounds, infuses with, supports, connects and protects and has the potential to influence every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, organ, system and cell in the body.
When we are injured, have surgery, have poor posture or are influenced by our mental health status we affect the fascia causing restrictions in the way we move, which then causes straining in other areas of the body, causing abnormal movement which then leads to pain, joint compression and an increased risk of injury or further injury.
So applying Myofascial Release, increases range of motion, decreases pressure in fascia restrictions and restores normal structure and function.
Myofascial Release happens when slow sustained pressure is applied to the restricted area/s transforming them from a solid form to a more fluid form which improves the fluidity within the ground substance, realigns fibres and breaks up restrictions in the myofascia (fascia around muscle tissues).
I may also incorporate cranial sacral release ( static unwind) and muscle energy techniques which I also learnt in the course to help achieve the best possible outcomes for my clients.

2022 is drawing to a close.
This year has been another challenging year for many, with the sad loss of close family members for a number of my clients, amongst other things. There has been excitement with babies coming into the world for a couple of my clients and new beginnings with career changes and opportunities.
Besides being kept busy with my clients and family life, I have also been adding to my knowledge and skill set by continuing to learn myofascial release.
I started the courses last year, have done a few this year and will finish my training early in 2023.
I have absolutely loved it and the benefits are fantastic.
I will be getting stuck into my case studies in the new year to complete them
early next year.
I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year. Here's hoping that 2023 will be very good year for
everyone.
I look forward to seeing my regular clients and meeting some new people next year.πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ˜Š

Some years ago I had a conversation with a client about the things we say to ourselves and the effect it has on whether we carry out our intention or not.
Have you ever noticed that if you say "I should do ... or I could do ..." that you more than likely won't ever carry it through? We need to be saying, I will do ...
Also saying that you will try something usually leads to us not putting much effort into giving a new skill a chance to develop into something potentially great.
It's an interesting thing for us to say these things as we have virtually talked ourselves out of doing things that would benefit our lives or the lives of others.
I challenge you to take note of what you say to yourself and if it is having an impact on whether you carry it out or not or how much effort you end up putting in to learning or developing a new skill.
What do you notice? Share your findings if you would like to.

It's a while since I posted anything, almost a year.
And what a year it's been for us all.
The challenges have tested us all greatly, with the drought and horrendous bushfires, then Covid and other personal things that had to be contented with.
We have all been affected by these on varying levels.
For me, being there for my clients when they needed to talk about their concerns and other things that they had been dealing with was an important part of their overall treatment. My clients and I supported each other which helped us all get through the last year or so.
This year, even though Covid is still around, it seems at the moment, that we can have a little more normality in our lives (perhaps cautiously though).
I have started learning Myofascial release, a fantastic technique that gives great results and I am looking forward to practising on clients who are happy for me to do so as I further my skills.
My hope is that this year will be better for us and that we can look forward to the future with positivity.

COVID-19 UPDATE.
The current situation as of today is that the State Government has relaxed the restrictions on Remedial and Therapeutic massage ( this does NOT include massage parlours or beauty therapist related massage).
So if you are well and in need of a Remedial massage, I will be seeing clients who have a genuine need to have treatment/s.
I have included some information about symptoms of COVID-19, how it compares to the common cold and regular flu and the recommended method for hand washing.
NB: the same routine is used for hand rub/sanitiser (which should only be used if soap and water are not available).😊

I have been a massage therapist for 26 years now and am amazed at how fast that time has gone.
I became a therapist by chance, really, with a good friend of mine, who was interested in doing a course in massage asking me if I would like to do a course with her. I agreed as I didn't have much happening in my life at the time.
I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical as the people that I had known who were into massage at the time were VERY alternate, not that there is any thing wrong with that type of lifestyle but as a young person, I found it a bit 'out there'!
A year later we graduated, having completed a diploma in Remedial massage.
We did further training to get us the skills that we wanted to be able to treat a variety of issues and to meet client needs.
After all these years and many, many massages later, I feel very privileged to have been in a position to help people feel less stressed, get through a pregnancy better and recover afterwards, manage their Lymphatic issues, and help them with repetitive strain, work and sports injuries, disabilities, sciatica and other problems that people have to deal with where massage and corrective exercises help.
I have met people who have made me laugh and made me cry and some who have challenged the way that I look at life and perceive things. Most of them have been wonderful people who have made my life richer for having had them a part of my journey in this career and I thank them all for that.
As 2019 draws to an end I would like to thank all my regular clients for being the awesome people they are, for the hard work they have put into being able to function better, for becoming parents to gorgeous babies, some first timers, and for choosing me to help them with their own unique journey. I look forward to continuing to offer a high standard service to people, both current regular clients and new ones into the future.
I wish you all the very best!
Jenny weal😊
