Nothing is more energizing than a fruit and greens salad! Try it!

Sweet fruits that go good in a salad: pineapple, mango, fresh berries, red grapes, goji berries, red bell pepper (capsicum).

I dressed this with fresh lime juice, fresh mint and organic nori powder after taking the photo. It was so tasty! 😋

Also try eating a family size salad all to yourself. You will feel so healthy!

The vagus nerve connects our brain to our heart, our gut, and even our immune system. The vagus nerve is like the hardwiring that allows our brain to turn down inflammation within our bodies. When you hear about the mind-body connection, that’s the vagus nerve at work.

Your heart rate variability (HRV) is a measure of vagal tone, the activity of your vagus nerve.

Your heart rate naturally goes up and down with your breath. When you inhale, your heart rate tends to go up. When you exhale, your heart rate tends to go down. You can test this by feeling your pulse change as you slowly breathe in and out.

We care about HRV because low heart rate variability predicts a greater risk of heart disease and premature death from several causes. Patients with lower HRV have twice the risk of dying prematurely.

How can we improve our HRV?
✅ Voluntary slow breathing—about six breaths per minute—is a technique that’s been used for thousands of years as an essential part of many meditative and relaxation practices.
✅ Aerobic exercise at least twice a week positively influences heart nerve control.
✅ Eat more plants, especially greens. People who eat plant-based diets have better overall HRV, along with improved blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar levels. The vagus nerve toning effects of plant-based diets may help explain part of their heart-healthy benefits. Of all the plants, though, green leafy vegetables seem to stand out as most beneficial for HRV. This might explain why eating just half a serving of greens a day may cut our risk of having a heart attack by up to 67%!

A new analysis from the Physicians Committee shows that a low-fat vegan diet leads to greater weight loss than a Mediterranean diet, even when the vegan diet includes foods like refined grains and potatoes, which are considered “unhealthy” by the plant-based diet index. Removing animal products and added oils is the key factor that drives improvements in weight, body composition, insulin sensitivity, and cholesterol.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Wendy Sweet, founder of My Menopause Transformation, at her seminar on Thursday night.

Wendy is a wealth of knowledge, especially when it comes to reversing menopause symptoms, and preventing ageing symptoms in the post menopause years.

It felt so good to connect with her in person after spending the past twelve months doing her practitioner and weight loss coach courses and live video calls. And I learned more at the seminar as well.

I cannot thank Wendy enough for the life-changing information I’ve gained from her, not only to turn my own life around and improve my health and wellbeing during my menopause transition, but for the much higher level of value I can now offer my clients and the fulfillment I feel from empowering them to feel amazing through their mid life transition, and to get healthier as they age.

I highly recommend going to Wendy’s seminar when she visits your closest city.

A diet rooted in whole, plant-based foods can do more than just prevent disease—it can help reverse it. 🌿

Dr. Dean Ornish’s research, published in The Lancet and JAMA, was the first to show that a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle can open blocked arteries, lower cholesterol, reduce inflammation, and even improve mood and longevity—without drugs or surgery.

“A whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet rich in a variety of high fiber whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and protein packed legumes has been shown to reduce the risk and potentially reverse cardiovascular and neurological disease.”
— Dr. Dean Ornish

💚 Eat well, feel well, and live with intention.
