⚠️ What to Watch For
Symptoms usually appear 7–18 days after exposure and can include:
- Fever
- Cough, runny nose, or red eyes (conjunctivitis)
- A red, blotchy rash (starting on the face and spreading down the body)
If you or your child develop these symptoms:
➡️ Stay home and avoid contact with others.
➡️ Call your GP or the Emergency Department before arriving — this helps staff arrange isolation to protect others.
💉 Free Measles (MMR) Vaccination
Free MMR boosters are available through the WA Government for people who need them.
You may need a booster if:
You were born in 1966 or later and haven’t had two measles vaccines or proof of immunity
You’re unsure of your vaccination history — it’s safe to get another dose
Most people born in WA from the mid-1980s onwards are already protected through childhood immunisations
Please note:
The MMR vaccine should not be given during pregnancy, and should be avoided for 4 weeks before becoming pregnant.
Some immunocompromised people cannot receive the live vaccine — speak to your doctor for advice.
🩺 Stay protected, check your vaccination record, and help stop the spread of measles.
