Mount Barker parkrun

Mount Barker parkrun A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 8am at the Homemaker Centre. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer.

Mount Barker parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 8am from the Mount Barker Homemaker Centre, approximately 33km east of Adelaide's CBD. parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the beautiful surrounds and get physically active at the same time. We want to encourage people to jog or
run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

Shout out to our wonderful volunteers 💜 As we approach our 600th event it’s important that we recognise the 918 individuals who have made it all possible to date!

As you may be aware each week, vests are washed, tokens sorted and checked, equipment checked, rosters managed, facebook posts done and all that happens before we kick off each Saturday morning.

On “parkrun’day
morning, turnaround flag is installed, volunteers assembled, the path is chalked, vests are worn. The course is checked and confirmed as “good to go”, the volunteer coordinator walks around and talks about volunteer opportunities, the first time briefer introduces our first timers to our event, the tail walkers get ready to bring the last participant home, and the park walkers discuss all things about how much fun it is to walk a fun, free fabulous 5km. And let’s not forget about our photographer who captures all the moments, the hi-fives, the pbs, the selfie frame moments, the triumphs and celebrations. The Run Director welcomes everyone and provides the run brief. Our Marshall gets into position on the other side of the bridge to ensure there is a safe passage for everyone, then the “keeper of time” gets us underway!
And we absolutely cannot forget the token hand’er outer’ers, who juggle hundreds of tokens to make sure you get the right one as you cross the finish line and the awesome barcode scanners who make sure participants record a time.

We love our volunteers 💜thankyou to each and everyone who has contributed to our 599 events to date, all 918 of you!!

💙🖤💙🖤💙🖤💙🖤💙🖤💙🖤

There are always opportunities to volunteer, below is the link to our future roster.

Happy 12th Birthday Mount Barker parkrun! What a lovely way to celebrate this massive milestone AND event #599 today as 385 people ran, jogged and walked the course. With a whopping 65 first timers and 55 parkrunners recording new Personal Bests!

Today’s event was only made possible because of our excellent sponsors, the wonderful local council and especially these total legends, AKA volunteers:

Sandy DALY • Daniel VOLTZ • Greg CROWDEN • Debbie VOLTZ • Paul KITCHING • Jo GOODWIN • Dan GOODWIN • Paula PAROLIN • David BROWNIE • Garry LEECH • Andrew DALY • Nick MEDDER • Harley COPPING • Lisa DAVIS • Kim HEPBURN • Robyn LIERTON • Cheryl LIERTON • Andrew HUGGINS • Bhavani QUIRKE • Margaret BARTER • Terri PAMMENT • Andreas HEIKAUS • Ann O'CONNOR • Felix O'CONNOR • Mavis O'CONNOR

Check out most of the said legends here! If you want to wear a volly vest soon let us know - even if the roster looks full, it isn't!
