GPcare General Practice is located at the Summit Health Centre, Wellington Rd Mt Barker and is one of a number of clinical services provided by Summit Health.

GPcare is a not-for-profit, locally focused general practice committed to improving the health of our Adelaide Hills community. We provide coordinated health care in a welcoming environment and consult alongside a large number of other health professional in the Summit Health Centre. It can be difficult arranging appointments with all your health care providers, our relationship with the medical specialists, nursing and allied health professionals consulting at the Centre enables us to provide you with a coordinated, comprehensive health care experience in one location. A large number of our medical, nursing and practice staff proudly declare themselves as ‘Hills locals’. We are located next to, and have a strong working relationship with, the Mt Barker Hospital. All our GPs have admitting rights to the hospital enabling patients to receive comprehensive care should they require admission. We are pleased to welcome Dr Mohammed Hamed, to the GPcare team!

Dr Mohammed Hamed is an experienced GP who graduated in 2012 and completed his specialist training and a Master’s degree in General Practice and Family Medicine in Egypt before moving to Australia. He has worked in rural and regional Victoria and is now settling in the Adelaide Hills with his young family. He is AMC qualified and is currently finalising his RACGP Fellowship.

Dr Hamed’s clinical interests include Geriatric Medicine, Chronic Disease Management, Skin Cancer Medicine, and Men’s Health. He also enjoys caring for children and providing women’s and family health services. He holds a Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine, is currently undertaking a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine, and has advanced training in chronic disease care, minor skin procedures, Implanon insertions and removals, and mental health care. He is also passionate about medical education and enjoys teaching and mentoring future doctors.

Yesterday was National Receptionists’ Day, and we want to take a moment to acknowledge the great work of our front desk team.

Reception is such an important part of general practice — it’s often the first point of contact for our patients, and the team plays a big role in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

We’re grateful for the way they manage the daily challenges of a busy practice with professionalism, kindness, and a good sense of humour.
