31/12/2023
Having reached the last day 2023 I can say that I am glad that this year is over. I will remember it as a year of pain because of acute arthritis in my left hip and knee joints for most of the year. It incapacitated me severely to the the point I could hardly walk or stand. I even had to give up golf and riding my mate around in my golf cart.
However it has been a year of grace and blessings as well. So many assured me that they were praying that I would get my hip surgery sooner rather than later and got it months earlier.
Others were praying that I would have little pain and my pain level from day one so minimal I could come of the drugs on day two, a miracle!
After one week in hospital and two in rehab where everyone said my recovery was amazing I came home to extra grab bars in the shower and a new electric bed thanks to my beloved wife and some friends resulting in ongoing exercise progress as an out patient.
At my discharge my weigh out revealed that I had lost twenty kilos in weight without even trying! My surgeon gave me a clean bill of health and encouraged me to get back on hte golf course as soon as possible. My surgeon has me already booked in on the 31st of January to start working on replacing my knees.
Except for the time in hospital I was and am able to continue doing my work.
To many who may not see this as a great turn around, to me who has hardly been in hospital these past seventy seven years it is huge.
I see this a reset for me. The Lord has given me a break from the unhealthy past and placed me on a new healthy path. I think 2024 after my knees have been done, I will be set for another decade or so. I wonder what the Lord has in store for me now? In a prophecy He did say, "The best is yet to come", and today I heard that promise again!
Goodbye 2023, hello 2024, the best is yet to come.
May the Lord also grant YOU a healthy, joyful and prosperous new year as you continue to live in HIStory!
Shalom, Bill
