Red Cross Limestone Coast

Red Cross Limestone Coast Red Cross Staff, Volunteers and Branch Members all working hard together to provide support and servi Independence
The Movement is independent.

The Red Cross has been an integral part of the Limestone Coast community for a century. Today people are involved with Red Cross through local Branches in Naracoorte, Mundulla, Kingston, Southend and Kalangadoo, as volunteers in regional towns and through membership of the Australian Red Cross. As the Red Cross moves into it's second century we are aiming to bring together all of these groups into a strong Red Cross Movement. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact the Limestone Coast Red Cross office on 87253622

Services offered by the Red Cross on the Limestone Coast include Transport for your medical appointments, shopping, social or other service needs, Telecross, a daily wellbeing call, and Emergency Services support. In all activities our volunteers, members and staff are guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Humanity
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, co-operation and lasting peace amongst all people. Impartiality
It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. Neutrality
In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement. Voluntary service
It is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain. Unity
There can be only one Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory. Universality
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.

Today, we had the pleasure of coming together to celebrate Harmony Day with our incredible staff, volunteers, stakeholders, and community.

Over shared food, culture, and plenty of laughter, we were reminded of the strength that comes from diversity and connection. Moments like these truly reflect the Red Cross Fundamental Principles - Humanity, Impartiality, and Unity: bringing people together with respect, kindness, and a strong sense of belonging.

A special highlight was a short presentation on Zimbabwe and its cuisine, generously shared by Caroline Garandi - a beautiful reminder of the rich cultures that enrich our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful and joyful day. Together, we continue to build a more inclusive and connected community where everyone belongs. ๐ŸŒ

Last Wednesday, the Limestone Coast team had the pleasure of hosting a surprise morning tea to honour our outgoing Vice Patron, David Walshaw ๐Ÿงก

David has brought a wealth of experience and leadership, drawing on his background as a former Regional Services Manager with Red Cross. We were also delighted to be joined by Pat Pearson, Chair โ€“ Divisional Advisory Board; Bec Cunningham, Senior (State) Manager โ€“ Community Programs & Business Operations; and Kylie Callaghan, Senior Officer โ€“ Aged Care SA Community Programs.

A big thank you to all our volunteers and members who joined us and contributed to a valuable and interactive session on our Fundamental Principles. Your ongoing commitment continues to strengthen our community.

Communities in Darwin are showing incredible resilience as they support one another through the current flooding. Australian Red Cross is on the ground providing psychological first aid and helping people navigate the immediate and long-term impacts.

Whether youโ€™re in the Northern Territory, Queensland, Western Australia, or other parts of Australia facing extreme weather, itโ€™s important to stay informed, prepare emergency plans, and have access to support services where needed.
