Red Cross Limestone Coast

Red Cross Limestone Coast Red Cross Staff, Volunteers and Branch Members all working hard together to provide support and servi Independence
The Movement is independent.

The Red Cross has been an integral part of the Limestone Coast community for a century. Today people are involved with Red Cross through local Branches in Naracoorte, Mundulla, Kingston, Southend and Kalangadoo, as volunteers in regional towns and through membership of the Australian Red Cross. As the Red Cross moves into it's second century we are aiming to bring together all of these groups into a strong Red Cross Movement. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact the Limestone Coast Red Cross office on 87253622

Services offered by the Red Cross on the Limestone Coast include Transport for your medical appointments, shopping, social or other service needs, Telecross, a daily wellbeing call, and Emergency Services support. In all activities our volunteers, members and staff are guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Humanity
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, co-operation and lasting peace amongst all people. Impartiality
It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. Neutrality
In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement. Voluntary service
It is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain. Unity
There can be only one Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory. Universality
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.

In the busy wards of a small hospital in Juba, South Sudan, Australian Red Cross delegate Sophie spent months with people whose lives changed in an instant. Landmines, loss, and pain—but also fleeting moments of resilience, courage, and shared humanity that shone through the harshest conditions.

Sophie knows that carrying these experiences doesn’t end when a deployment does. Behind every aid worker is a network of support helping them process what they see, hear, and carry—so they can continue to serve with strength and compassion.

In crisis zones, every day is unpredictable—and the weight of what people witness can stay long after they leave. Without support, even the strongest can feel overwhelmed.

This festive season, help bring comfort to those carrying heavy burdens. Your generosity can provide counselling, psychological support, or simply the reassurance that someone is there when it matters most.

Donate today, so care in all its forms can reach the people who need it most. https://bit.ly/43C1dnR ❤️

Australian Red Cross recently submitted a recommendation calling for psychosocial support to be included as part of the response to the toxic algal bloom.

Today, we welcome the Committee’s acknowledgment of this need and its recommendation that the Australian and South Australian Governments review current investment in community resilience and mental health support programs — and consider ongoing or increased funding where needed to assist affected communities.

This recognition validates the lived experiences of those impacted and highlights the importance of a holistic recovery approach that extends beyond environmental and economic factors.

Australian Red Cross remains ready to continue delivering Psychological First Aid, outreach, and community-led recovery initiatives in partnership with government and local stakeholders.
