Some people just quietly change the world. Meet Hamish, a cherished member of our Lifeworks OT family at Mt Lawley, and a very quietly spoken, delightful legend! ☺️

In March, Hamish wasn’t just walking; he was marching with immense purpose. He took on the 's March Charge in honour of his Dad.

To complete this incredible challenge, Hamish walked a total of 221 kilometres spread across every single day in March. You could find him marching from Hillarys to Trigg and back, nearly every morning. That is true dedication and love in action.

Lifeworks OT is incredibly proud of Hamish. We are rallying our community to support him as he charges for a cancer-free future.

Please consider donating to Hamish's fundraising page and leaving him a message of support below! 👇 Let's get behind our quiet legend.

💡 FRIDAY OT HACK: The 3-3-3 Rule 💡

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or sensory overloaded by the end of the week? You’re not alone.

As part of our focus on mental health and neurodivergence, our OTs often use this simple, effective grounding technique. It’s designed to snap your brain out of its spiral and bring you gently back to the present moment.

Here is how you do it:

👀 Look: Name THREE things you can see right now. (e.g., that clock, the tree outside, your phone).
👂 Listen: Name THREE things you can hear. (e.g., the hum of the fridge, traffic, your own breathing).
🤚 Feel: Touch and name THREE things in your immediate environment. (e.g., the fabric of your shirt, the texture of your desk, the edge of a book).

This 30-second pause can reset your nervous system. Save this post for the next time you need it. 🌿

The "Balancing Act": Hope vs. Acceptance. 💛

For those living with chronic pain—including the millions navigating Endometriosis—daily life can feel like a constant tug-of-war.

On one side, there is Acceptance: acknowledging the physical limitations and the reality of a "flaring" body. On the other, there is Hope: the drive to find better management, reduced symptoms, and a life that isn't defined by pain.

This March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. With Endo affecting 1 in 7–10 women and those assigned female at birth, we want to acknowledge the mental load of this "invisible" disease. At Lifeworks OT, we don't see acceptance as "giving up"—we see it as the foundation from which we build a meaningful, functional life.

To everyone wearing yellow or lighting up a landmark this month: we see you, we hear you, and we’re here to help you find your balance.

Meet the women behind the mission at Lifeworks Occupational Therapy. 🌿

Our Management and Leadership Team isn't just a group of colleagues; they are the backbone of everything we do for our Perth community. From trusted advice to clinical wisdom, these incredible women—Hayley McDonnell, Elyse Graham, Heidi Perera, Tamsin Pagett, and Julie Morris—bring decades of collective experience to our practice every day.

We are so proud of the culture we've built together. Lifeworks OT wouldn't be the same without their compassion and strength.

Your value as a human being is intrinsic. It’s not a sum of tasks completed or things achieved; your worth isn’t measured by a clean house, a meal cooked, money earned, or a sleeping baby.

We understand how easily that sense of self can get lost in the overwhelming shift into motherhood. That’s where Occupational Therapy can make a difference. OTs are uniquely skilled in helping you reclaim your identity. We work with you to find small, meaningful ways to do the things you love, manage the practical demands of life, and rediscover the unique 'you' that exists beyond your role as a mum. You are worthy simply because you are.
