Australia Day

The snags were sizzling and the flags were flying when Noyea Riverside residents celebrated Australia Day 2026. The theme of the day shone through on the fashions of the guests, and the table decorations. Coming in from the heat it was refreshing to be greeted by our waiters Chris, Annette & Graham who were in charge of the drink trolley and repeatedly topped up our glasses with sparkling wine or orange juice to “wet our whistles”. Jeff was our DJ and lots of Aussie classics boomed out, the catering crew prepared a true-blue breakfast of snags, bacon & eggs, with plenty for seconds. Jean was invited to cut the Australia Day cake, plus the traditional Lamingtons were on the menu as well. Phillip said a few words around being an Aussie, lucky and raffle prizes were drawn, Chris and Karen looked resplendent in their “True Blue” outfits to be chosen as our best dressed Aussies. Margaret and her team looked after the bar while Kerry handled the ticket sales. Carol and her ladies did a marvelous job preparing and serving the tucker with a few extra hands to help. Lloyd and his crew sweated over the BBQ’s while Di welcomed our very newest arrivals, Keith and Sandra into the Noyea family.
A huge thank you to all our volunteers, some regular faces and some of our new residents joining the volunteer rank, together they all contributed to ensure it was a great day for us all.

Christmas Raffle Night! What an amazing sight to see a line of tables loaded with such an array of diverse prizes. The room was packed with folk all hoping that perhaps they may have a winning ticket or even 2. Some folk were on a winner several times over while others said “maybe next year “.
On behalf of all those present, Chairperson Llyod paid tribute to Karen and her team who were the masterminds behind the event, he thanked Margaret and her crew in the Bar, and to Carol who along with her ladies were busy in the kitchen. The service from all the volunteers was delivered with a good dose of Christmas cheer which ensured the night was definitely “happy and bright”.
Lloyd presented Darren, Angie, Scott, Dave and David with a gift from the Residents Social Funds as a tribute for their support and service throughout the year, this was endorsed by a hearty cheer from all those present. To witness the camaraderie between our staff and residents is certainly a demonstration of the goodwill shared not only at Christmas but throughout the year. A popular Christmas’s Elf was in attendance direct from the North Pole, bringing Christmas greetings to the folk of Noyea Riverside village direct from Father Christmas.
50% of proceeds going to support Ovarian Cancer research. Noyea Riverside residents combined with the support from RA and local businesses can be commended for their generosity even when costs of living continues to rise.
Thank you to all our volunteers and thank you to everyone who supported the event.

Today, we pause to remember and honour the brave men and women who served, and continue to serve, our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication have secured the freedoms we cherish every day.

At 11am we take a moment of silence to reflect on their service.

Lest we forget.
