Hope Kids OT We provide holistic care and bilingual therapy services for children with developmental needs

🚀 Hope Kids OT is proud to be one of the first clinics in Australia leading the implementation of the My Comms App , as our team came together to be trained & accredited by Communication Spectrum.

This professional development training includes evidence based practice & has sparked important reflections and key actions within our team.

What stood out most was not just what we do, but why and how we can improve the implementation of visual supports in everyday practice:

✨ Moving beyond just creating visuals
✨ Thinking about accessibility, context and real-life use
✨ Strengthening how we support communication across environments

We believe that meaningful support is not just about having more tools, but about using them in ways that truly work for children and families 🙌

🧡April is World Autism Awareness Month

At Hope Kids OT, we believe awareness is just the starting point. What truly matters is how we choose to listen, understand and support.

✨ Listening to autistic voices and lived experiences
✨ Understanding that every individual experiences the world differently
✨ Supporting in ways that are meaningful, respectful and empowering

It’s not about changing the child.
It’s about shaping environments, relationships and supports so every child can thrive.

💛 Save or share this with someone who is part of your child’s world

If your child is hitting, biting, or pulling hair… read this first. They’re not trying to be “naughty.”
They may be seeking deep pressure input to help calm their nervous system.

This is called proprioception — and it helps kids feel more grounded, safe, and regulated.

✨ Try these instead:
✔️ Firm squeezes to arms, hands, or legs
✔️ Chair push-ups or wall push-ups
✔️ Heavy work like carrying books or pushing objects

These simple strategies can support your child’s regulation in a safe and positive way 💛

Save this for later!

🏆We are honoured to share that Hope Kids OT has been awarded Silver in the 2026 Asia Pacific Stevie Awards!

✨This recognition reflects the work our team has been doing to rethink how paediatric services can be delivered. Not just through therapy sessions, but through building systems, programs and partnerships that better support children and families.

✨Since inception, we have supported more than 2,300 families across our clinics, with a team committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-informed care.

✨Innovation in healthcare is not always about something new. Often, it is about doing the fundamentals better. Listening more closely, collaborating more intentionally and designing services that are practical and meaningful for the families we serve.

✨This milestone is truly a reflection of the team behind Hope Kids OT and the community that continues to trust us. We are grateful for how far we have come and focused on how we can continue to do better for the families we serve.

If writing feels like a daily battle, you’re not alone.

Slow speed, sore hands, unfinished tests and homework that drags on can affect more than grades, it can affect confidence too.

The DASH-2 assessment gives us clear answers so we can provide targeted, practical support. Early understanding and intervention leads to better outcomes ✏️

📚 Books we love to celebrate neurodiversity

Stories can be powerful. They help children feel seen, understood and valued for who they are and help families build understanding, empathy and connection.

Here are some of our favourite books that celebrate different ways of thinking, feeling and experiencing the world this neurodiversity week💛

✏️ Does your child press too hard when writing or drawing?

If their pencil keeps snapping or their hand gets tired quickly, they may need help learning how much pressure to use.

Try these 4 simple OT tips:
✔️ Place fabric under the paper
✔️ Practice writing on tissue paper
✔️ Use a soft/squishy pencil grip
✔️ Try a mechanical pencil

These strategies give kids instant feedback and help them learn to control pencil pressure.

Save this for later and try it at home! 💡

Is your child’s handwriting slowing them down?

At Hope Kids OT we use the DASH 2 Assessment to help us understand handwriting speed, legibility, fluency and coordination so we can pinpoint what is really going on. Sometimes difficulties are not obvious at first glance.

The right assessment leads to the right support for your child ✏️

Hope Kids OT x The Indi App 🤝

At Hope Kids OT, we believe therapy does not stop when the session ends. That is why we are excited to partner with .indi.app , a platform that helps families and clinicians stay connected between appointments.

⭐️Our clinicians will be providing clinical insights to help shape how the platform supports families and clinics.

With Indi app, families can log progress in real time:

👉🏻Share wins, challenges, videos and notes from home or school across the child’s healthcare village
👉🏻 Built-in AI tools can help organise reflections and track progress over time.

For clinicians, this means better visibility into a child’s world outside the clinic helping therapy become more informed, responsive and personalised.

At Hope Kids OT we believe thoughtful technology can strengthen collaboration and support better outcomes for children and families 💛

The future of healthcare is evolving and we are excited to be part of it ! 🚀

“Learning first occurs as a part of emotional interactions.”
— Dr Stanley Greenspan, DIR Floortime

Before children learn new skills, they learn through connection. When a child feels safe, understood and emotionally supported, their brain becomes ready to explore, communicate and grow. This is the foundation of DIR Floortime, where development is supported through meaningful relationships, shared attention and playful interactions - and that’s where learning begins 💛
