Osteoarthritis: This is a degenerative joint disease that can affect the hip joint, leading to pain and stiffness. It typically occurs with age and can cause groin pain.
Hip labral tear: The labrum is a ring of cartilage that surrounds the hip joint. A tear in the labrum can cause groin pain, along with clicking or catching sensations in the hip.
Hip impingement: Also known as femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), this condition occurs when there is abnormal contact between the bones in the hip joint. It can cause groin pain and limited hip movement.
Hip bursitis: Bursae are small fluid-filled sacs that cushion the joints. Inflammation of the bursa in the hip can cause pain in the groin and outer hip area.
Sports hernia: A sports hernia, or athletic pubalgia, is a painful condition that affects the groin area. It involves a strain or tear in the soft tissues of the lower abdomen or groin, often associated with athletic activities.
