It is time for another Auslan Sign of the Week with Zola.

This week the word is More.

Through our Auslan sessions, our clients are learning useful words and phrases that help support communication, connection and confidence.

It has been wonderful to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the challenge of learning something new.

We will keep sharing a new word each week so our community can learn along with us.

A big part of our days at Lifeskills Plus is spent out in the garden, caring for the space we have created together.

With the support of our staff, our clients take pride in watering the plants, watching them grow and learning how to care for them each day.

It is a simple task, but one that builds routine, responsibility and a sense of ownership.

Moments like these bring a sense of calm, connection to nature and pride in looking after something together.

Sometimes the simplest ideas bring the biggest smiles ๐Ÿ’›

With nothing more than a plastic cup, some string and a ball, our staff and clients created a fun little challenge that quickly turned into a great game.

What looks simple on the surface is actually helping build hand eye coordination, focus and perseverance.

Activities like this remind us that meaningful engagement does not need to be complicated.

It is about creativity, connection and finding joy in everyday moments together.

Often, it is the simple things that make the biggest difference.

Our Auslan Sign of the Week with Zola is back, and this week the word is Eat.

Learning Auslan is a great way for our clients to build communication skills while also having a bit of fun together.

Each week we learn a new word or phrase, helping everyone grow their confidence and understanding of sign language.

We love sharing these moments with you, so you can learn along with us too. Follow along each week as we continue learning Auslan together.

There is always something taking shape in our woodwork program at Lifeskills Plus.

With guidance from our staff, our clients enjoy getting hands on with tools as they measure, cut, sand and create their own projects.

Activities like woodwork help build confidence, patience and practical skills, while also encouraging creativity and problem solving.

Most importantly, it is a space where our clients can take pride in what they create and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing their hard work come together.

Mornings out the back in the park have been filled with cricket, laughter and plenty of friendly competition ๐Ÿ

Some of our clients stepped up to bat or bowl, while others enjoyed cheering from the sidelines, soaking up the sunshine and good company.

Whether participating or spectating, everyone was part of the fun.

Activities like this encourage movement, coordination, teamwork and confidence, all while creating meaningful time together in our local community.

It is not just about the game, it is about connection and shared moments.

Our Auslan word of the week is here

This week, Zola is teaching our clients the sign for โ€œDrink.โ€

A simple everyday word, but an important one.

Being able to communicate basic needs like wanting a drink supports independence, confidence and clear self expression.

These practical signs help our clients feel heard and understood in daily life.

We love building our Auslan skills together and sharing each new word with you, so you can keep learning alongside us each week.

Our cooking program is all about building everyday life skills in a supportive and hands on way ๐Ÿ•

In this session, our client was busy preparing pizza pockets and chicken bites, practising everything from safe food handling to measuring, mixing and cooking.

With guidance from our staff, each step helps build confidence in the kitchen and encourages greater independence at home.

Learning to prepare simple, everyday meals is an important skill that supports routine, responsibility and pride in what you create.

And of course, enjoying the finished product together makes it even better.

Our Auslan word of the week is here

This week, Zola is teaching our clients the sign for โ€œSick.โ€

Learning signs like this helps our clients communicate how they are feeling, ask for support when they need it, and better understand others around them.

Being able to express health and wellbeing is an important part of independence and self advocacy.

At Lifeskills Plus, we are committed to building practical communication skills that empower our clients in everyday life.

We love sharing this journey with you, so keep learning alongside us each week.

There is always something happening in our woodwork program ๐Ÿ”จ

Our clients have been busy sawing, cutting, sanding and painting, learning how to use tools safely while bringing their creative ideas to life.

With guidance from our staff, each project becomes an opportunity to build practical skills, focus, patience and confidence.

Woodwork is not just about making something with your hands.

It teaches safety, responsibility and problem solving, all while encouraging creativity and pride in a job well done.
