š A remarkable patient story from Mulgrave Private Hospital š
What began as a simple act of community spiritādecorating the Beaconsfield Community Christmas treeāturned into a months-long medical journey for Louise Sterling. Living with POTS, Louise fainted while wrapping tinsel, resulting in a broken foot and a series of complications that led to multiple admissions, surgeries, and ongoing treatment.
From her time in Kenny Ward, Burnet, and Florey, Louise received weeks of care including IV antibiotics, complex wound management, and multiple procedures. Along the way, she built strong connections with our nursing and kitchen teams, who she says became āpart of her worldā during her stay.
Despite the challenges, Louise never lost her sense of humour - naming her mobility aids āNeilā the scooter and āCharles Le Chairā and remained focused on returning home to her family, her dogs she rescued from medical research facilities, and the community she supports so passionately.
Louise is the driving force behind a local food pantry, volunteers daily, and serves as secretary of the Beaconsfield Tennis Club. Even during her recovery, her resilience and generosity have continued to shine.
Weāre so proud to have been part of Louiseās journey and wish her all the very best as she heads home
At Mulgrave Private Hospital, itās the people - our patients and our staff - that make every story matter. Your surname suits you to a tee Louise!
