We’re delighted to welcome Mr Foong Loh (FRACS) to the team at Mulgrave Private Hospital.

Mr Loh is a highly experienced Specialist Breast and General Surgeon based in South East Melbourne, with both public and private appointments. He brings extensive expertise across the full spectrum of breast disease management, including breast cancer, benign breast conditions, breast reconstruction, therapeutic mammoplasty, lipofilling, and chest wall flaps. He is also accredited in breast ultrasound, performing ultrasound-guided core biopsies and fine needle aspirations—supporting timely diagnosis and streamlined patient care.

Since 2014, Foong has served as a consultant surgeon at Monash Health, where he is actively involved in surgical education and research. A full member of Breast SurgANZ, he works closely within a multidisciplinary team, including breast care nurses, plastic surgeons, and medical and radiation oncologists. He is deeply committed to delivering personalised, compassionate care and achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients.

The results are in...Each year we survey our patients and ask them 'How likely are you to recommend our service to your friends and relatives?' with a rating going from 0 to a maximum 10.

📈 The scores are then combined and given a total 'Net Promoter Score' which can range from -100 (all patients give a score of 0-6) to +100 (all patients give a score of 9-10). An NPS score over 0 is good, above +50 is Excellent.

HIM Week

This week is HIM Week, raising awareness about the role Health Information Management professionals have in the delivery of patient care and system efficiency.

The theme 'Our Identity, Our Impact: Demonstrating Our Value' recognises the breadth of the profession - clinical coding, data governance, digital health, health information management, clinical documentation, privacy, education - unsung heroes undertaking important work behind the scenes to ensure patient care is efficient and timely, with accurate reporting, billing and the safe storage of patient information.

IMPORTANT | We have been notified by Dandenong Council that asphalt resurfacing works will take place at Police Road/Gladstone Road.

🚧 The works are scheduled from Sunday 13th July until Thursday 17th July between 7.00pm till 5.00am.

🚧 During this time Police Road and Gladstone Roads will be CLOSED and Traffic Controllers will be directing the traffic appropriately.

🚧 Local detours will be in place and controlled by traffic control contractors.

🏥 During this time there will be restricted access to the hospital. All emergency vehicles will be allowed to enter and exit as per normal. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

This ANZAC Day we recognise the commitment and courage of the many men and women who have fought and served to protect our freedom and way of life.

Today marks 110 years since the first ANZAC soldiers stormed the beaches of Gallipoli in the darkness before dawn. When the sun set on 25 April 2015, more than 600 Australians had lost their lives and over 1,000 had been injured. The list of the dead would grow to over 11,000 ANZACs by the end of the Gallipoli campaign.

They shall grow not old,

Congratulations to therapy dog Baloo on his very first visit to Mulgrave Private Hospital!

Patients and staff alike couldn’t help but smile as Baloo greeted them with his puppy charm and super fluffy coat.

As a therapy dog, Baloo offers calming support to patients and their families, helping to lower stress levels and lift moods. He may not be a medical professional, but Baloo definitely has a pawsitive effect.🐾

MAKO Robot is now available at Mulgrave Private Hospital enabling hip and knee replacements for our patients with reduced length of stay, reduced pain and improved function.

Mulgrave Private hospital now has access to the latest technology for hip and knee replacement surgery. The Mako Robot was used for the first time on 12th April 2024 at Mulgrave Private Hospital by Mr Rez Rahim (Orthopaedic surgeon) along with his assistant surgeon Lachlan McNamara for a total hip replacement procedure.

The Mako system uses a CT (computed tomography) scan of the patient's joint to generate a 3D virtual model of the individual anatomy. This model is loaded into the software of the MAKO system and used to create a patient specific pre-operative surgical plans. The robotic arm can then ensure that the implants can be positioned within 1mm of those plans.

Mr Rahim said the MAKO robot allows him and other surgeons to personalise the procedure to the patients’ specific anatomy.

Mr Emery was the first patient to undergo surgery assisted by the MAKO robot at Mulgrave Private Hospital. “I have had pain in my hip for 20 years. Once I could no longer walk the 100m to my community centre I decided something needed to be done. Having this procedure will mean I am able to help my wife more around the house and have a better quality of life.

Mr Rahim said Mr Emery’s procedure was a success and our team were very excited to be part of this inaugural operation at Mulgrave Private hospital. He said “We are very pleased to be able to offer MAKO robotic assisted surgery to patients at Mulgrave. Some of my patients have been waiting months for the technology to arrive before having their procedure.”
