The Original Perch

The Original Perch The Original Perch is a unique seat designed to give a comfortable and healthy sitting posture.

I designed The Original Perch because I wanted an adjustable and comfortable meditation seat. Now that it has been made I have discovered that it is not only perfect for meditation but has many other health benefits I had not imagined. The unique design means that you sit balanced on the seat with your weight being transferred in a line vertically downwards through the body to the point where the foot of the seat contacts the floor. Sitting this way gives a very satisfying feeling of being in balance. This "active" sitting experience means the body’s core muscle group is engaged which strengthens the core and the spine is in neutral alignment which is it's most natural and comfortable position. Another benefit is that there is much less weight on your knees than with a traditional stool. Although this was designed as a meditation seat it is also just a very comfortable way to sit while eating, reading, watching TV etc.
