Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
They are rich who own the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be hindered by your old nonsense.
Each new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays.

Have been appreciating a lively and supportive FB discussion with psychologist colleagues, passionate about reforming psychological access to those in need. 10 Medicare rebated sessions are not sufficient for many, and the 2 tier rebate scheme is divisive and unfair. Please support reform that leads to increased sessions and rebates for those accessing our health care system.

Medicare support for psychological care has been problematic for many years. At the National Conference, the Australian Mental Health Party will propose several areas of reform to directly address …

Deb Dana is offering a webinar through K Events - should be really interesting for those wanting to better understand Polyvagal Theory

In response to traumatic experience, the autonomic pathways of connection are replaced with patterns of protection and the drive to survive works in opposition to the need for connection.  The regulating influence of the ventral vagus is missing and cues of danger overwhelm the autonomic nervous sy...

An interesting article about "grit" as a combination do persistence and passion, not perfectionism. Our greatest contributions to the world are made when we follow our interests and the things we love. Appreciated Christine Carter's personal reflections on her own experience of anxiety and people pleasing. http://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/grit_needs_passion_not_fear

Passionless persistence might lead to achievement, says Christine Carter, but will it make you happy?

Have just had a look at Deb Dana's site, recommended by Linda Graham at her recent workshop, as the "translator or Stephen Porges". She has a great free resource - "Beginner's Guide to Polyvagal Theory". It's a good summary of the way our nervous system works and the way the Ventral Vagal and Dorsal Vagal operate. http://www.debdanalcsw.com/the-rhythm-of-regulation.php

My clinical work is based on the principles of Polyvagal Theory. Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, Polyvagal Theory offers a way to understand the human autonomic nervous system and directly engage with our habitual patterns of response. Through a polyvagal lens we learn to listen to our embodied s...
