We are a multidisciplinary specialist allied health service dedicated to maximising independence & participation in your community, servicing all of metro Melbourne. Specialising in neurological, general rehabilitation and the disability sector, we work with a diverse range of conditions and complex needs to support our clients to realise their goals & their potential. Our experienced clinicians have provided person-centred neurological and general rehabilitation Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology to adults and adolescents in their homes across metropolitan and outer Melbourne since 1999. Today we pause to honour Mr Nick Rushworth as he is laid to rest, reflecting on his dedicated leadership as Executive Officer at Brain Injury Australia.

Nick was a tireless advocate and a steady voice for thousands in our community, leaving behind a legacy of compassion that fundamentally changed the landscape of brain injury support in Australia.

On behalf of Kate Phillips and the team at Independent Rehabilitation Services, our deepest condolences are with Nickโ€™s family and the BIA community on this sad day.

That smile says it all ๐Ÿ˜Š

After a traumatic brain injury (TBI) six years ago, Keith finally returned to the pool recently. What started as a goal just to get back into the water turned into a moment of pure magic: Keith standing with his feet on the floor for the first time since his accident.

With support from his physio, Izzy, Keith didnโ€™t just standโ€”he found his stride (together they waded back to the ramp to get into his wheelchair when leaving the pool).

Beyond the physical โ€œwin,โ€ the shift in Keithโ€™s engagement and memory has been the real reward. Itโ€™s a powerful reminder that therapy isnโ€™t just about โ€œfixingโ€ things; itโ€™s about expanding someoneโ€™s world and reclaiming joy.
