We provide support exclusively to adults with acquired neurological conditions. Building independence for life. We are here to help.

We are a multidisciplinary specialist allied health service dedicated to maximising independence & participation in your community, servicing all of metro Melbourne. Specialising in neurological, general rehabilitation and the disability sector, we work with a diverse range of conditions and complex needs to support our clients to realise their goals & their potential. Our experienced clinicians have provided person-centred neurological and general rehabilitation Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology to adults and adolescents in their homes across metropolitan and outer Melbourne since 1999. We had a wonderful OT Week celebration with the team 🎉

Our amazing OT’s, Aqssa and Jenna, facilitated multiple activities which celebrated and demonstrated Occupational Therapy in Action, in line with this year’s theme.

Here is the ‘OT in Action Wall’ - the team were asked to showcase what OT in Action means to them. It was beautiful to see people so willing to celebrate their teammates’ successes or share their own working wins. And the examples of our OT’s in action were absolutely heartwarming and testament to the vital work that we do as Occupational Therapists.

Here’s an example for you:

“After 2 years of going back and forth with the funding body, my client had a new power wheelchair 🦼 and scooter funded!! Previously, her husband was pushing her around in an office chair!” 🙌

It’s World OT Day and we’re here for it! 🌏

The theme this year couldn’t be more appropriate - Occupational Therapy in Action. Our OTs are always in action working towards our clients’ goals, so we thought we’d highlight the “action” of a typical day in the life of a community Occupational Therapist at IRS.

Between the 💙client-focussed tasks (home & community visits, liaising with providers, collaborating with support team members and report/treatment note writing) and the 🩵workplace support (social interaction, wellbeing focus and professional development/mentoring) our OTs are very busy people, but they all love the work they do, it keeps them going - taking action with creativity and compassion.

Happy OT Week all - The world is a much better place for the practice of Occupational Therapy!

Together, let's raise awareness for mental health issues around the world on World Mental Health Day 2025.

The theme, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 is very dear to our hearts as community clinicians. We believe connection, participation and independence in the community is vital to our clients' wellbeing. We get it.

So let's all have those conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, reach out for support – and connect with our communities.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗧 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱!

The theme for this year explores the role of physiotherapy and physical activity for 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 with the ultimate goal of preventing frailty and falls.

Our population is ageing at a faster rate than at any point in history, so it's imperative that people have access to physiotherapists who can create individualised programmes addressing strength, balance, flexibility and coordination.

Our team got together to celebrate, in advance of World PT Day, by showcasing a range of balance tests, which our physios typically use with their clients. We all got some great insight and enjoyed a bit of friendly competition across the challenges! Have a quick peek at what we got up to ➡️

Earlier this month, we threw a party for Mel (Senior Occupational Therapist), Libby (Senior Physiotherapist) and Nat (Director of Operations) at Bomba. Such a fun night for the whole team to celebrate these three amazing people and the milestone of 20 years at IRS.
