At McGuiness Funerals, Christmas is a time when many families feel the absence of loved ones most deeply. Each year, we try to honour those memories in a way that is meaningful, personal and heartfelt.
Our Christmas Memory Tree holds the names of every person we have had the privilege of caring for over the past 12 months. Each name is carefully placed on the tree by Jess, our Admin Officer, who spends many hours ensuring every family member is remembered with care and respect.
Jess also creates a matching keepsake bauble for each family, which is sent out so their loved one can be remembered at home, hanging on their Christmas tree, present in name and spirit during the festive season.
Over the years, families have told us how much this gesture means to them. Recently, a family member visited our office and asked if her mum’s name was on the tree. When she was told it was, she became emotional and shared how deeply touched she was by the thoughtfulness behind it. She also reminded us that every time she walks into our office, she feels treated like family.
That is our mission, to care for families with empathy, respect and genuine compassion, not just on the day of a service, but always.
