James has trained extensively with many senior teachers in Australia and also with the Iyengar family in India. James is passionate about working with people in a way that allows them to be more centered, balanced and light-hearted.

Relief for for lower back pain taken from Iyengar for Healthy Aging by
Text reads:
Asana 16: Pavan Muktasana - Relaxing Front and Back
This asana is especially good for back aches, in particular for pain in the lower back, as well as for regulating and reducing states of fatigue, stress and high blood pressure. The abdomen should be completely supported. You need 2 chairs, bolsters and blankets.
• As in Malasana (see position f. with chair, p. 84), practise with a blanket across the groins to achieve more support and extension in the lower back.
• Rest your forehead to stretch your neck and calm your nerves and mind.
• Follow the instructions on the photos:
a) With 1 bolster (172)
b) With 2 bolsters, and flat blocks to sit higher so your spine can be lifted and extended forward (173, 174)
