Grief Counselling

Grief comes to us in many ways, not only through the death of a loved one, however, it does always imply a loss.
For example, this can be a loss of body autonomy from a stroke, accident or disease. It could be loss of family due to migrating to another country, loss through family breakdown or the loss of a much loved career etc.
During the course of our lives we all will unfortunately encounter some kind of loss.
The work of grief can be long and difficult and it's not an experience any of us usually wishes to have.
The process of grief counselling helps us to make sense of our loss, to understand our feelings around that and to navigate a path through the tragic event.
After having my baby daughter die and doing the work of grief, in many ways I didn't recognise myself a year later. These experiences that are such hard work change us forever.

When helping clients who are working through grief I usually do healing work on them. I find the healing takes away a lot of the 'weight' of the grief which enables them to get to the emotion and issues of the experience as they navigate this very difficult journey.

Crystal Meditation Exercise

Making sure that you will not be disturbed, especially by a phone, settle yourself comfortably with your chosen crystal. Hold it in both hands or place it on a low table in front of you.
Breathe gently, letting each out breath be a little longer than the inbreath. As you breathe out, let go of any stress or tension you may be feeling. As you breathe in, let peace flow with your inbreath passing right through your body. Allow your breathing to settle into an easy rythm.
With softly focused eyes, look at your crystal. Notice it's colour, it's shape, it's weight if you're holding it. Feel it's vibrations passing into your hands. Allow yourself to wander within the crystal, exploring it's inner planes. When you're ready, close your eyes. Quietly contemplate the energies of the crystal and let it teach you about itself.
When you've completed the meditation, open your eyes and put the crystal aside. Place your feet firmly on the floor. To ground yourself you can hold a Smokey Quartz or Boji Stone.

Programming your Crystal

Crystals need to be dedicated to the purpose for which you use them so do this to a new crystal as soon as you've cleansed it. This focuses the energy.
Hold the crystal in your hands and picture light surrounding it. If you find this difficult you can hold your hands in front of a light source. Say out loud " I dedicate this crystal to the highest good of all. May it be used in light and love. "

To program your crystal, hold it. Let yourself open to higher guidance. Consider the purpose for which you wish to use it. Be specific. If you want to attract love, describe exactly what kind of love you are looking for. If you are seeking healing, say precisely for which condition and what you want to happen. When you've formulated your programme, attune to the crystal. Ensure this is exactly the right crystal for the purpose. When you're totally in tune, say out loud " I program this crystal ( for your purpose )"
Then put the crystal in a place where you'll see it frequently or keep it in your pocket.
You may need to repeat the programming several times.

Crystals are highly responsive and work very hard.
So it's important to cleanse them very regularly when using them.
I cleanse mine after every use on either my clients or myself.

Crystal Care

Many crystals are fragile or friable. Crystals such as Selenite are water soluble. Polished surfaces or natural points are easily scratched or damaged. Tumbled stones are more durable as they've spent endless hours turning in fine grit which gives them a tough surface.
When not in use you can wrap your crystals in a silk or velvet scarf to prevent scratching and to protect them from absorbing foreign emanations.
Crystals need to be cleansed when you buy them and after wearing or using for healing.
A few never need cleansing - Citrine, Kyanite and Azeztulite are self cleaning. Clear Quartz and Carnelian cleanse other crystals and are especially useful for delicate and friable stones, but may need cleaning themselves afterwards.

Crystal Cleansing

Crystals absorb ( and store ) both positive and negative energy from their surroundings, as well as from anyone who picks them up or even walks past them. For this reason you should "cleanse" your crystals regularly.
Placing the crystal in the light of the sun or moon for a few hours will recharge it provided it is not a stone that fades in sunlight and care is taken not to focus the rays where they could start a fire.
Keep a Carnelian in a bag of tumbled stones and they'll never need cleansing by any other method. A small crystal can be placed on a Clear Quartz cluster overnight.
You can smudge crystals by burning sage leaves or burn incense near them or visualise them surrounded by light which energises and purifies them. You can also use the sound of a bell or bowl.
