It's always been YOU!!!

Need help for knowing how to facilitate language development in play OR maybe you don't feel totally confident in knowing how to play with your child??? We are here to help with some tips!

1. Start by observing your child and try to notice what they are interested in
2. Ask if you can join in
3. Follow their lead. Go along with whatever your child is doing. If they are stacking blocks, you can stack blocks. If they are banging on a drum, you can bang on the drum.
4. Embrace your inner sports commentator. Comment on what you can see them doing (e.g., "stack it up", "red block on top", "knock it down! CRASH!")
5. If your child abruptly moves from activity to activity and doesn't finish what they are doing... LET THEM! This can be really frustrating as an adults but let them be the leader. Follow them to whatever activity they choose next.

Hey there, I’m Jamie! I am the owner of Leaps n Bounds Speech Pathology. I studied a Bachelor Degree of Speech Pathology at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia.

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with children in some capacity. I adore and admire how children engage their imaginations, how they don’t evaluate and judge others, how they can so innocently express their honest opinions… They just have a zest for life that creates so much joy and happiness. So… When I stumbled upon the field of Speech Pathology, I just knew in my heart that I had found my ultimate career where I could make a positive impact in the lives of children.

My passion and expertise lie within the early intervention space and in supporting neurodivergent children to develop in the areas of speech, language, social communication and alternative communication (AAC). Throughout my career I have gained extensive experience working in a range of different settings including, private practice, schools, OSHC services, childcares and community based settings. My approach is infused with positive high energy, creating an atmosphere where learning is engaging and empowering. I believe that creating a fun and engaging atmosphere is key to helping children develop their communication skills effectively.

In my spare time you might find me soaking up the sunshine, wining and dining with friends, singing and playing music, OR spending time with my family, soon-to-be husband and two fur-children, Cornelius and Raffie.

Making the leap and deciding to reach out for support for your child can be an overwhelming process BUT we are here to help you every step of the way!

Step 1:
Contact us to book in a FREE 15 minute enquiry call. We can have a quick chat about the services we offer, our therapeutic approach, discuss your main concerns and address any other questions you may have.

Step 2:
Attend a 60-minute consultation with our Speech Pathologist. She will aim to gather as much valuable information as possible about your child's development, health and wellbeing. This will ensure we are able to provide suitable and effective holistic services for you and your child. We recommend this appointment is only with the parent or caregiver.

Step 3:
After getting to know you and your child, our Speech Pathologist will provide formal and informal assessments to identify your child's strengths and key areas/skills where your child may require some extra support. A comprehensive report will be completed following the assessment. The report will contain the assessment outcomes, therapy goals and recommendations for ongoing therapeutic support.

Step 4:
The therapy journey begins!!! We use evidence-based approaches to support your child to achieve their therapy goals. Children learn best when they are feeling safe and having fun, so we do our best to involve your child's interests into their learning.

The key to your child’s ongoing progress and success is when we spend time coaching YOU! If we focus on 'building your capacity’ to support your child’s development at home every single day, we give them every opportunity to grow and thrive!
