Flipping things upside down with inversions. This week we’re playing with different inverted poses.

Inversions have many benefits and we often have one or two in our classes.

Some of the benefits include:

Physical
🤸🏼‍♂️Improves circulation:
Being upside down encourages venous blood (deoxygenated) from the lower body to return to the heart and brain more efficiently, supporting healthy circulation.
🤸🏽Stimulates the lymphatic system:
The inverted position helps drain lymphatic fluid from the legs and abdomen, supporting detoxification and immune function.
🤸🏽Supports thyroid and hormonal balance:
The gentle compression on the throat area is said to stimulate the thyroid and parathyroid glands, helping regulate metabolism and hormone balance.
🤸🏽Relieves leg fatigue and varicose veins:
Elevating the legs reduces swelling, heaviness, and fluid buildup in the lower limbs.
🤸🏽Improves digestion:
The inversion can stimulate abdominal organs, aiding digestion and relieving mild constipation

Mental
🧘🏽Calms the mind and reduces stress:
Shoulder stand activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” response), promoting deep relaxation and mental clarity.
🧘🏽Improves focus and concentration:
Inversions increase blood flow to the brain, often leaving practitioners feeling refreshed and mentally alert.
🧘‍♀️Supports better sleep:
The calming effect on the nervous system can help reduce insomnia and promote more restful sleep.

You can learn more about these poses and how to do them with us everyday.

"Do you wake up at the same time in the middle of the night?

Do you experience a midday slump in your energy levels?

When is the optimal time to eat, sleep, work and relax?

The Ancient Chinese have a sophisticated system of traditional medicine that supports health and vitality. Part of this system is the Chi Cycle that charts the flow of energy which rests in different organs at specific times of the day. This Chi Cycle circulates in a 24 hour period and represents the time of day when each organ is functioning optimally and has the most energy.

The Body Clock can be used as a guide to understand how to best nurture ourselves and match our daily activities to the most suitable energetic times to support the mind and body.

Join Christine McDaniel for this Yin Masterclass, as we explore Yin Yoga poses that stimulate the 12 meridians to enliven the Chi flow through the channels. We will begin with a 30 minute conversation about this ancient system followed up a 2 hour Yin Yoga sequence touring the landmarks of the Body Clock
