October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗 🎀

The aim of this month is to shine a light on the devastating impact breast cancer has on thousands of Australians each day.
Every year over 21,000 people in Australia (including around 200 men) will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Every day 58 people in Australia will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Did you know? Nine out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of breast cancer.
Breast screening can find breast cancer early, before it can be seen or felt by a woman or her doctor.
Visit BreastScreen QLD for more information, or to book your screening 👙💕

Day 3: Heart Smart ❤️

Heart health has long been overlooked in women – but not anymore!

Many people think that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is only a men’s health issue, but it’s not. CVD is a major cause of death of women in Australia.

It’s important to know that women often have a different experience of CVD compared to men. Risk factors and symptoms of CVD can be different, and women are also at a disadvantage when it comes to CVD care.

Jean Hailes have partnered with the Heart Foundation to talk blood pressure, cholesterol and one of the best exercises you can do for your ticker.

☀️NATIONAL SKIN CANCER ACTION WEEK ☀️
Often called our ‘national cancer’, Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, with approximately two in three Australians diagnosed with skin cancer during their lifetime. Sadly, around 2000 Australians will die from this disease this year, and it is estimated that almost twice as many men as women will die from melanoma this year alone.

With summer approaching, now is a great time to get your skin checked. Ring the clinic to book a skin check with your GP today. And remember - slip, slop, slap! 😎
