I turned 40 recently. And I have a confession. 😄
Somewhere in the middle of last year, I had a bit of a moment… a minor freak out — and wrote myself a list. 40 things I wanted to do before I turned 40. Because if I’m being honest, I spent most of my 30s pouring myself into everyone and everything else. My family, my kids, this business, my community. All things I love deeply. But me? I kept getting shuffled to the bottom of the pile.
So I made the list. And I actually did it.
I ran a marathon. I went to New Zealand. I saw a real life Kiwi bird (bucket list item I didn’t know I needed 😂). I hosted a backyard party, found new bush walking trails, had dinner at a restaurant I’d been putting off forever, read books I’d always meant to read, watched sunrises AND sunsets in the same day, wrote a letter to my mum that made me sob, got back into camping, booked a photo shoot for this little spa I built from a dream… and so much more.
Some things were small. Some were enormous. All of them were mine.
And here’s what that list taught me — really taught me — is the same thing I’ve been quietly trying to offer this community from the very beginning:
We have to make space for ourselves. On purpose. With intention.
Not when everything else is done (because it’s never done). Not as a reward. Not as a last resort. But as a practice. A habit. A non-negotiable.
This spa exists because I believe people need a place to breathe. To come back to themselves. To remember that they are a whole, layered, deserving person — not just the person holding everyone else together.
My 30s were beautiful and full and I wouldn’t trade them. But my 40s? My 40s are going to be about keeping my name on the list too. 💕
If you’ve been shuffling yourself to the bottom lately — I see you. Come in. Let’s find you again.
