Researchers who've studied asp caterpillars say the hair-like bristles that cause the intense pain evolved from the transfer of genes from bacteria more than 400 million years ago.

You may have heard that the Federal Government is proposing to introduce 60-day dispensing.
What great timing...
When stock is already desperately short, let's just double how many we dispense at a time.......

Australia is currently experiencing an unprecedented number of medicines shortages. There are almost 400 medicines (as of 23/04/2023) either unavailable now or expected shortly.
Medicines that are currently available in Australia will face increased demand as patients start expecting double supplies. This was an issue that was seen in the early days of COVID in 2020. Back then we had to put Panadol behind the counter and could only sell one bottle at a time.

The recommendation from the Therapeutic Goods Administration then was to limit supply to one month at a time on essential medicines.

Fast forward to 2023 and at the same time as pack sizes of paracetamol are being reduced (for public safety) the Government is proposing to double the supplied quantities of many drugs such as antidepressants. Where's the public safety in that???

This move is BAD policy and we need to speak out against it.
It’s bad for the supply chain.
And it’s bad for public safety.

Today the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has released updated recommendations for a winter COVID-19 vaccination dose (second booster / fourth dose).

The updated recommendations are:
☑️ winter doses can be given 3 months after the first booster dose (previously 4 months)
☑️ adults aged 50 to 64 years are now recommended to get a winter COVID-19 vaccine dose (second booster).

Adults aged 30 to 49 years can get a winter COVID-19 vaccine dose, however the benefit for people in this age group is less certain.

People who have recently had COVID-19, should still wait 3 months after infection before they get their next dose.

A reminder the winter dose can be provided at the same time as your annual influenza (flu) vaccine.

Winter doses are available to more of the population, from next Monday 30 May 2022. Please note that Monday is a public holiday in ACT. Please check the ATAGI link to see if you are eligible for the winter (4th) dose!

Yesterday ATAGI announced expanded eligibility for second (winter) COVID-19 booster doses.

From Monday 30 May 2022, the following people aged 16 to 64 years can also receive a COVID-19 vaccine winter dose.

The winter dose can be given from 4 months after a COVID-19 vaccine booster for:

• a medical condition that increases the risk of severe COVID-19 illness
• people with disability that have significant or complex health needs or many comorbidities which increase risk of poor outcome from COVID-19.

For more detail on eligible groups, read the latest ATAGI advice here https://bit.ly/3Gj2LpZ

If you believe you’re in this group, please speak to your GP or specialist for further advice on how to get a winter dose.

A reminder the winter dose can be provided at the same time as your annual flu vaccine.

People who have had COVID-19 recently, should wait for 3 months after a confirmed COVID-19 infection before they get their next dose.

Are you expecting to travel soon?
Pre-flight COVID Rapid Antigen services are now available in-pharmacy.

Most destinations and airlines now require evidence of a negative COVID-19 test taken prior to departure. Our pharmacists will supervise and interpret a self-administered rapid antigen test, and will provide you with a certified pharmacist witness declaration.

We offer this service for asymptomatic travellers required to demonstrate a negative COVID-19 test prior to departing on a flight.
