The recent bushfires across Victoria have left many farmers facing the difficult task of rebuilding — not just fences and infrastructure, but the paddocks themselves.

Before agriculture, I spent time on the trading floor — first as a Chalkie at the Melbourne Stock Exchange in the 1980s, then as a stockbroker through the 1987 crash and up until trading moved online in 1990.

𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗼-𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸?
A flat white is my go-to, but I usually start the day with an Ice Break iced coffee.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗔𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲?
I get to introduce farmers to products they may not have used before — products that deliver real benefits to both productivity and the environment. Years ago, I heard American agronomist Neal Kinsey speak about declining yields despite increasing chemical fertiliser use. It stuck with me, but it wasn’t until I joined BioAg that I truly understood the practical alternatives. Natural phosphorus fertilisers can work alongside modern farming systems to achieve excellent results, and now I’m passionate about helping others see that too.

Meet Gary Veitch, Depot Manager at the North West Fertiliser Depot at Leitchville, part of AG Warehouse.

𝘽𝙞𝙤𝘼𝙜 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙗 incorporates calcium sulphate in the form of gypsum in 𝘽𝙞𝙤𝘼𝙜𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙨. It’s ideal for soils that need phosphorus, sulphur, and calcium, such as pastures and grazing, and for crops requiring extra sulphur, such as canola.

BioAg was founded by Jep Gates and myself in 1999. On March 25, 2026, it will be 27 years since we started the business, and I’ve been responsible for its direction and evolution ever since.
