What Are Skin Tags (Acrochordons)?
Skin tags, medically known as acrochordons, are common benign (non-cancerous) skin growths that appear as small, soft, flesh-colored or slightly pigmented projections of skin. They are composed of loose collagen fibers and blood vessels surrounded by skin.
They typically develop in areas of friction such as the neck, underarms, eyelids, and groin, where skin rubs against skin or clothing.
While they are harmless and not painful, they can become irritated or itchy if rubbed by clothing or jewelry.
