Our Women and Newborn Mental Health Service is looking for mothers with children under two years to take part in a survey to help us enhance the services we provide mothers experiencing mental health difficulties across the state.

For some new mums, the difficulty adjusting to the changes a new baby brings can be a tough period, leading to poorer mental health and mother-infant relationship difficulties.

Participation in the quick and anonymous online survey will help our researchers and clinical teams understand more about how we can help during the postnatal period.

Today we're celebrating Dental Technician Bruce Matthews, who recently achieved the impressive milestone of 55 years at Dental Health Services.

Beginning his career with an apprenticeship at the former Perth Dental Hospital at the tender age of 15, he has witnessed many changes over the years as community dental services have expanded to meet the needs of a growing population.

Known for his dedication, Bruce has had an enduring impact on his colleagues and patients.

"I am satisfied, knowing that over the years I have helped a lot of people that are walking around with my dentures and eat and live better for it," Bruce said.

April marks the beginning of Djeran, the Noongar season of adulthood that takes place across April and May. 🍂

Breaking from the hot weather of the previous Bunuru season, in Djeran we welcome the dewy mornings and cooler nights that come with the Djeran season. For this reason, Djeran is represented by the colour green. 🌱⛅

It is also the time red flowering gums start to bloom, and banksias start to show their stunning flowers, providing sources of nectar for the many small mammals and birds that rely on them for food. 🌿🍯

We are highlighting the seasons on the Noongar calendar as part of our focus on recognising and celebrating events of cultural significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
