💛 Emotional Eating & That “Sick” Feeling
Have you ever felt that low‑level, uneasy, almost sick feeling — the one that seems to come from nowhere, but deep down you sense it’s connected to past stress or trauma?
That feeling can easily be mistaken for hunger. When you’ve been through trauma, your nervous system stays a little on alert. The body might feel tight, hollow, or queasy — and food becomes a quick way to soothe that internal alarm.
Eating can momentarily create safety: warmth, fullness, slower breathing, and a rush of calming hormones. It’s not about willpower. It’s your body’s clever way of trying to find balance.
✨ Try this next time the urge hits:
1️⃣ Name it. Ask yourself: “Is this physical hunger or emotional unease?”
2️⃣ Ground your body. Take slow breaths, hum, or feel your feet on the floor for a minute.
3️⃣ Stay nourished. Regular meals keep both body and emotions steadier.
4️⃣ Seek safe support. A trauma‑informed professional can help you understand what your body is asking for — without judgment.
Your body isn’t broken. It’s simply communicating in the only way it knows how. 💛
