The cause of knee pain can be quite mutlifactorial and can present as a result of many pathologies.

It can be as a result of overuse injuries such as tendinopathies, poor biomechanics or even arthritic changes in the joint.

Regardless of its origin, acrivity modification, range of motion and strength based exercises are key to reducing the load on the relevant structures in the area.

General exercises such as
- Sit to Stands
- Bridges
- Calf raises
are good global and functional based strengthening exercises of the musculature that cross the knee joint.

You can also greatly reduce the incidence of knee pain just by modifying your activities such as avoiding prolonged aggravating factors, pacing those activities and adopting a walking or pool based regime.

Since knee pain and the lower limb is so complex, it is best to consult a skilled physiotherapist in order to accurately diagnose the cause of your pain and hence acquire a more individualised/tailored program.

Vertigo is a type of dizziness whereby you feel you are spinning or the world is spinning around you; usually when changing positions.

It can be quite debilitating and limiting at times, you might feel you can't move out of bed and can't attend work and your day to day activities.

Vertigo may affect people of all ages and there are a multitude of factors that may cause it.

These causes can be roughly categorised as such:
1. Peripheral - most commonly the Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), menieres
2. Central - strokes, tumors, vestibular migraines, multiple sclerosis
3. Medication induced and Psychogenic

Our experienced physiotherapists have the necessary skills to diagnose the source and assist you in treating it.

Treatment depends on the cause as in most cases vertigo goes away by it self. However if symptoms are severe and they persist, it is usually best to consult with a first point practitioner such as your GP or an experienced physiotherapist.

At Comprehensive Physio, we come to you. We understand that getting out of bed and the house is the last thing you want to do when experiencing such unsettling symptoms and hence we assess and treat in the comfort of your home.

Chances are that you or someone you know has or has had back pain in the past.

1 in 6 Australians report having back problems, and 4 out of 5 experience it sometime in their life. [1]

For most people, back pain results from the straining of muscles, ligaments and joints — rather than a specific condition.
Back pain symptoms may include pain, spasms, stiffness, tingling and/or numbness.

In most cases, back pain can be prevented by exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight and good posture, lifting items safely and reducing stress and muscle tension.

Acute lower back pain normally gets better on its own within a few days or weeks. It can be considered chronic when it persists for more than three months.

In either case, staying physically active and regularly stretching can help reduce lower back pain or prevent it from returning.

Here are simple exercises that can help relief acute symptoms.

1. knee-to-chest stretch: can help lengthen your lower back, relieving tension and pain.
2. Knee rocking: allows gentle movment and works your core muscles.

Consult our experienced physios for a more comprehensive and individualised program. Call us or head online to book now!
