For most of my life, I thought the goal was to shrink my body.

Smaller waist.
Lower number.
More control.

And every time I chased that, something else got smaller too
my sense of safety,
my trust in myself,
my ability to actually hear my body.

Because shrinking your body requires ignoring it.

Ignoring hunger.
Ignoring fatigue.
Ignoring emotion.
Ignoring the signals that are actually trying to keep you well.

What I’ve learned , through my own journey and through walking beside so many others is that body change without body trust never lasts.

You might get smaller for a while.
But you don’t get freer.

Rebuilding body trust looks very different.
It’s slower.
It’s quieter.
It asks better questions instead of harsher rules.

Instead of “How do I burn this off?”
It becomes “What is my body asking for right now?”

Instead of “I need more discipline,”
It becomes “I need more safety.”

As we head into 2026, I’m not interested in shrinking myself into submission.

I’m interested in a body that feels safe enough to exhale.
A nervous system that doesn’t need food, control, or perfection to cope.

A relationship with food and my body built on trust, not force.

That’s the work I teach.
And that’s the work I live.

Diet culture taught us to control our bodies.
Healing taught me to listen to mine.

2026 isn’t about getting smaller.
It’s about developing an even deeper relationship with my body.

If you feel a little out of “control” I’ll send you my free Bundle that will help you understand your cravings, why your hormones are a huge part of rebalancing your weight, and more. This includes a weight loss hypnotherapy meditation worth $49.95. The link is in the comments.

Sometimes the magic doesn't arrive on its own ...... I was chatting with one of my sisters recently.

Her kids won’t be with her this Christmas because of a marriage separation.

She said, “Christmas used to feel so magical… now it just doesn’t.”

And honestly, as a mum myself, my heart ❤️ broke for her a little. Because if you’ve ever had Christmas with kids, you know that magic. And when that’s missing, it can feel very quiet… very flat.

But then I heard myself say something out loud (sometimes the best wisdom sneaks out mid-conversation 😅):

Sometimes we have to create our own magic.

Because if I’m being really honest…
I can be so busy that I forget to stop.
To breathe.
To notice all the good things (because our brain is wired to notice threat and negativity).

I forget that magic isn’t only in big moments or perfect family photos.
It’s in:
✅ the people who are still here
✅ the effort someone makes to show up
✅ the lunch someone cooked just for you
✅ the small, ordinary moments that quietly say “you matter”

So if this Christmas doesn’t feel magical...:..
If it looks different than you imagined....:

Maybe this is your permission slip or little reminder to create a little magic for yourself.

Light the candle.
Set the table nicely even if it’s just you.
Laugh at something silly.
Pause long enough to notice what is still here.
Or make someone else's day brighter.

Because magic doesn’t disappear…

Sometimes it just needs to be invited back in.

Sending love to anyone navigating a different kind of Christmas this year.

I'm have a little social media break over Christmas and I'll be back after with the dates for my next Sacred Sound Meditation and Breath Journey and when our next Get Nourished 6 Week Challenge starts

Big love ❤️

This year reminded me that the real impact isn’t in perfection, polished performances, or doing things the “right” way.

It’s in showing up - fully human, fully myself.

Being present.
Being creative.
Letting people feel safe enough to laugh, cry, share, and just be.

So I’ll just keep on showing up as me:
messy, human, creative, and real.

What would change if you trusted that being yourself is enough?

If I teach as long as this Yoga Teacher I only have 55 more years left. Who's coming to my class? Ha!

Sometimes the simplest habits have the biggest impact. That’s the lesson from 102-year-old yoga instructor Charlotte Chopin, who still teaches three classes each week in her quiet French village 🤯

Chopin didn’t start yoga until she was 50, fell in love with it, and began teaching at 60. Over 40 years later, she continues her same simple sequence of postures, practiced with purpose and joy. No fancy equipment, no trendy programs just consistency and enjoyment.

Her secret isn’t only the exercise. It’s the community she shares it with. She cherishes her students, many decades younger, and the social bonds she nurtures keep her motivated, engaged, and physically active. Research confirms that meaningful relationships can improve longevity, cardiovascular health, and overall well-being.

Gratitude is another key. Chopin credits her longevity to appreciating her health, her children, and having an activity she loves. Studies show a grateful mindset can reduce stress, promote healthier behaviors, and even lower mortality risk.

Finally, her classes show the power of group movement. Moving together releases oxytocin, building connection and elevating mood. The shared joy of motion becomes a powerful emotional boost, far beyond physical fitness.

The lesson from Charlotte’s life is simple: show up daily in small, consistent, and joyful ways. Whether stretching for 10 minutes, walking with a friend, or dancing in your kitchen, it’s regular, enjoyable movement, community, purpose, and gratitude that truly sustain body and mind decades beyond what you might expect.

Consistency beats intensity. Joy sustains effort. And a small, meaningful routine can carry you further than any trend or hack.

“It’s only one day.”
said by fitfluencers who have clearly never enjoyed December.

If your pants feel tighter right now, you didn’t fail.
You lived.

You travelled.
You ate food you didn’t cook.
You said yes to connection, laughter, wine, breakfasts made with love, and messy gingerbread moments.

That’s not a lack of discipline.
That’s a season.

Bodies ebb and flow, just like nature does. (And we are a part of nature).

There’s a time for structure…
and a time for softness.

No shame.
No panic.
No January punishment tour.

I used to work in an industry where asking for 5 minutes off at Christmas was basically a crime.
Sick? Unacceptable.
Lunch break? Hilarious.
Overtime? Expected and unpaid.
Your wellbeing? Not even a flying f@&$ given.

It was hustle-culture disguised as “being a team player,” and honestly… it was industry exploitation at its finest.

For years, I stayed.
For years, I tolerated it.
And one day, it hit me like a truth-bomb to the chest:

No one was going to rescue me from a life I kept choosing.

So I chose differently.

I decided Christmas would mean what the songs said it would mean,
connection, family, comfort, joy, softness, warmth, presence.

Not burnout. Not resentment. Not depletion.

And now?
This time of year is my sacred pause.
Reflection, gratitude, love, and a big deep exhale after a beautiful year serving my clients.

So with this cuppa in hand (and sand between my toes), I’m officially wrapping up for 2025.
I’ll be back with my 1:1 clients from 6th Jan, and I’ll announce upcoming sound journeys, breathwork, and yoga for 2026 very soon.

Thank you for an incredible year truly.
My heart is full.

Life lesson?
If something in your life feels heavy…
ask yourself gently:
“Is this truly required of me or is it just familiar?”
Because you get to choose a softer way, too.

Much love to you and your family Larissa xx

Thank you, beautiful humans 🙏

Today was my final yoga class of the year, and looking at this photo of all your happy, funny, glowing faces… my heart could burst.

To everyone who rolled out a mat with me this year, whether it was once, every week, or somewhere in between, thank you.

Teaching yoga isn’t JUST about movement for me.

It’s about the tiny shifts you feel within yourself…

the softening of the shoulders,
the deeper breath,
the quiet exhale that says, “I’m home in my body again.”

It’s about watching you unwind, reconnect, and walk out just a little more calm, spacious, and grounded than when you walked in.

I’m so grateful for every person who steps into the studio and trusts me to guide them. You make this work a joy and an honour.

Thank you for an incredible year.
I can’t wait to share more yoga, more growth, and more connection with you next term and into the new year.

With love,
Larissa

Holding space for transformation…
then holding space for THIS sink.

This is what I do after 99.9% of the Sacred Sound and Breath Journeys I host. Ha!

It keeps me humbled and reminds me I'm living the dream of having a family to be able to serve.

I didn’t leave school feeling excited or celebrated.I left feeling ashamed.

What most people don’t know is that music was my first love.
I started learning piano at 5… on a piece of paper because we couldn’t afford a real one.

In Year 2, everyone in my class was handed a brand-new recorder.
I got my sister’s old, mouldy one from the top cupboard. (The stench made me gag)

But I made music anyway.

I joined the school band with a borrowed Navy flute.🪈

Later, after years on a waitlist, I finally got to play the saxophone 🎷 and I played my heart out.

School spectaculars, entertainment centres, the Opera House…
Music lit me up.

But studying at the Conservatorium or NIDA wasn’t an option for my family.
So I tucked that dream away and left school in Year 11 to go work and earn money.

My teachers were disappointed. My music teacher was devastated.

No fun, no signed shirts, no celebration.

I walked out feeling like wasted potential.

Fast forward many years…
I studied meditation.
Then sound meditation found me.
And something ignited.

The flutes.
The sound bowls.
The way people drop into a deeper part of themselves.

It felt like coming home to the part of me I’d left behind (or was it always there)

Now, every time I play, I feel that same spark from childhood, only wiser, softer, and more purpose-driven.

Nothing was wasted.
The paper piano.
The hand-me-down recorder.
The borrowed flute.
The long detours.

It all led me here.

Life always finds a way to return you to what was yours all along, just in a form you can finally carry and offer the world in a way in which it needs it the most.

I hold sound meditations monthly at my Home Studio in New Beith Queensland. You're welcome to join anytime

In December 2004, I was 26 and thought I’d be married by now… maybe even thinking about babies.👶
I had a whole life plan mapped out, tidy, predictable, “right.”

But life has a way of picking up your plans, smiling…
and quietly smashing them.

A year earlier, I’d found out I had a tumour.
It shook me awake.
It made me question everything I thought mattered.

So I went searching.

And somehow that search led me to a tiny retreat centre in Johnson’s Landing, British Columbia a place that looked like it belonged in a magical movie.

Ancient forests.
A still lake that mirrored the sky.
Snow, silent elk tracks.

And there, in that untouched stillness, I realised I wasn’t lost…
I was being shown a new path.

Not a big revelation.
Not a perfect plan.
Just a glimmer.

A quiet knowing that said:
“When you lose your health, you understand what truly matters.
Help people come home to theirs.”

There’s a saying:
People wish for a thousand things…
but a sick person wishes for only one
to be well.

That truth rearranged me.

Sitting in the snow with a cold mug and a warm journal, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a long time:

Direction.
Calling.
A blueprint my body had been waiting for.

And I’ve followed it ever since, step by step, season by season.

What that time taught me is this:

Sometimes life interrupts your plans
so it can introduce you to yourself.

We try so hard to control the timeline…
but often it’s the detours, the shake-ups, the unexpected mess
that open us.

They slow us down.
They soften us.
They ask us to listen.

So if life feels off-track…
Maybe you’re not failing.
Maybe you’re being rerouted.

Your next step doesn’t have to be perfect
it just has to be yours
