EXERCISE RIGHT WEEK 2022🎉

Ask yourself this question: “Am I exercising for the right reasons?”

Unfortunately, the messages that we see in the health and fitness industry has become more focused on exercise being a chore or punishment and used as a weight loss tool.

During this week, the goal is to highlight some of the other, more important physical, mental and social health benefits of exercise (that have nothing to do with the number on the scales).

Regardless of age, weight or health status exercise has the ability to help maintain a healthy and happy body! Leading an active lifestyle not only makes you fitter and stronger, it also helps to protect you from developing chronic illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

So, let’s find your reason to move!

It’s officially Exercise Right Week 2022 and this years focus is “Exercising for the Right Reasons!”.

EXERCISE FOR OSTEOPOROSIS 🦴

I have recently had an increase in the number of women reach out to me seeking exercise guidance for their recently diagnosed Osteoporosis. As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, we specialise in assessing, designing and implementing a tailored exercise program for you that takes into consideration your complete medical history, including injuries and physical limitations. A tailored program can be delivered to an individuals with osteoporosis and monitored over a longer duration and progressed accordingly!

General exercise guidelines as highlighted above can assist women with ensuring they are engaging in the RIGHT TYPE of exercises that will address their osteoporosis and osteopenia. Knowing what type of exercise is important in slowing the rate of bone loss and promoting the rebuilding of bone density to prevent fractures.

This exercise recommendation changes depending on your health and fracture history. Weight bearing activities may begin at a Lower impact and can slowly increase to Moderate to High impact activity but are only recommended for people with no history of previous fractures. But more on this in future posts!

If you or anyone you know is looking for more direction with an osteoporosis exercise program, get in touch with me today to see how i can assist!
