As the year of the Wood Snake is ending, I'm acknowledging there's still much to let go of, what should I preserve, what changes are necessary and what do I need to release.

Emotions will be intense, stay grounded, reflect and you will be strong and ready.

I eagerly anticipate the opportunities that 2026, the year of the Fire Horse, will bring, and as a fire horse, I am enthusiastic about exploring the possibilities this year holds, focusing on present moments and enjoying each experience.

Qigong is a gentle practice that integrates breath, movement, and intention to cultivate Qi or vital energy.

To start the year, we will explore Ba duan Jin, (the 8 Brocades) one of the oldest known practices, which was developed around the time of the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD) and Shibashi Qigong (Taiji Qigong 18 Forms) which is a little more recent it was created in 1979.

Both sets are beneficial for many reasons, come along and discover how amazing Qigong is for your mind, body and spirit.

Taking a moment to look back on 2025 and relalising it has been a journey of achievements, learning, workshops, retreats and connection.
Thank you to all the incredible people who have shared in these experiences with me.

Take your time to finish shedding this year, don't rush or plan just yet.
You will know when you are ready.
I never really know what lies ahead, I have some idea, a draft, but most times it just flows to where it's supposed to go.

Summer Solstice Blessings✨️

In Chinese Medicine, the Summer Solstice marks the peak of Yang energy, signifying maximum light, growth, and the Fire element phase, which is associated with the Heart, Pericardium, and Small Intestine organ system.

To balance this heat, which has already been intense with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius, it's crucial to nourish Yin with hydration and bitter foods like bitter melon, green tea, dandelion, radicchio, cranberries, dark chocolate, and cooling fruits and vegetables. Seasonal foods are always the perfect choice, like cherries, peaches, nectarines, watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce.

Protect your Heart's spirit with rest and joy, preventing burnout from too much Yang, which this festive season tends to offer. Take care of yourself in this high Yang time, be kind and gentle with yourself, find time each day to practice gentle Qigong movement or Yoga, such as Yin, and meditation, or even just lying in savasana for 10-20 minutes, which can help replenish Yin and balance.

Thank you to those who attended the last Qigong class at Aura at Redhead this morning.

As most of you know, Aura at Redhead will be closing on the 25th December, a big thank you to Darryn for the wonderful space you provided 🙏

There are three more Qigong classes at The Yoga Place Blacksmiths for this year
Monday's at 11am on December 1st, 8th and 15th.

The 15th will be a 2 hour class from 11am - 1pm, the class will include all our sets we have done and a cuppa to finish off the year

Another feather has been added to my cap, 50 hour Yin YTT 😊 So much gratitude and respect to our wonderful teacher Brooke Devi 🙏 The Essence of Sadhana and thank you for our safe Shala The Yoga Place Blacksmiths 🤍

Very briefly Yin yoga originated in the 70's, rooted in martial arts and Taoist traditions. Later, Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers refined this style of yoga, also known as Taoist yoga, and ultimately renamed it Yin Yoga, which became the primary focus ☯️

~ My biggest shift has been to allow myself to surrender, feel and sit with my emotions without shame or embarrassment, and acknowledge that mistakes are lessons from which I learn 🏵
