It can seem like a long stretch from the head to the heart when it feels like you’re in the eye of the storm, but cultivating simple yet effective practices like the one below can help to shorten the journey particularly when they become a daily practice.
When you are feeling pressured and overwhelmed with thinking, full to overflowing with thoughts that seem to be going nowhere except wearing you down and creating a state of anxiety or worry, you might like to try a quick reset:
⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️
❖ Bring to your mind’s eye or attention something or someone you love.
❖ Take that vibration of what you love (whether its a song, a friend, lover or family member, a special place or moment in time that brings you serenity or joy, a painting, a giggle, a treasured fluff/fur friend) and place it into the space of whatever it is that’s bringing you sadness, anger, discomfort or pain.
❖ Just drop it in there. Breathe it in and let it expand out to the edges of the negative feeling.
❖ That’s it ! ! Let it dissolve all the circular thinking ! !
You might be wondering how something so simple could change your state of mind that easily? Try it and see if it works for you so you can make up your own mind either way.
But, from my understanding it goes something like this…LOVE changes the molecular content or energetic frequency of the experience that you are EMBEDDED in. So what you see as a roadblock and negativity is really a molecular ‘spirit’ that has not yet shifted to a higher vibration.
This gentle practice allows that transformation to soften and begin.
This doesn’t mean overriding the need to face the situation that is triggering these feelings and asking for attention, but can help bring the head and heart into a more coherent state where you’re able to come up with clearer solutions.
Scientifically you’re changing the chemistry within your body from a cascade of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol to the feel good chemicals of oxytocin and dopamine which calm the system down and help us be more present to alternative perspectives and pathways to resolution.
