This World Mental Health Day don’t forget that sometimes children need help as well. If your child needs external help and support, this is NOT a reflection of you or your parenting. Just as we look after their physical health lets normalise getting mental health help for our kids if they need it

Congratulations Summer Durrheim

Summer won the 2020 Emeritus Professor Karen Stagnitti award for the Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Child Play.

Summer completed her Bachelor of Psychological Science Degree through Newcastle University in 2019 where she then found her love for wanting to work with children. With this in mind, Summer commenced her study at Deakin doing her certificate in Therapeutic Child Play. Summer fell I love with Child Play Therapy and has commenced her Masters.

In the future, Summer dreams to work at the John Hunter Hospital in NICU with children who are experiencing chronic illness where she can provide medical play and other play which best caters to each patient.

We love sharing books and stories with our clients! There are so many great benefits to Bibliotherapy for children:
🐢It facilities connection
🐢Is very nurturing
🐢Allows kids to safely identify with characters and journeys
🐢Can be a great conversation starter
🐢Springboards us into other activities such as Sandtray or art

This fabulous book celebrates individuality and acceptance and has been a hit with rock art this week (therapists own art)

PLEASE HELP: we are currently setting up our 3rd Play Therapy room and are desperately needing the following items. If you have any of these and are no longer using them or know someone who may be willing to part with them please let us know. These are some of the most used items in our room and we need to keep the rooms as similar as possible for our new incoming clients and therapists.
