Hunter Primary Care is a not-for-profit organisation located in Newcastle NSW. For over 30 years we have been supporting people to live a healthy life by delivering a range of health and wellbeing services to the Newcastle and Hunter community. Our services include -
• Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Services including care coordination and chronic disease management, mental health car

e coordination and psychology services
• Aged Care services including Aged Care Emergency (ACE), Aged Care Nurse Practitioner, Aged Care Clinical Placements Program and psychology services
• Allied Health services including Priority Allied Health, Multidisciplinary Lifestyle Community Groups and Coordinated Respiratory Support
• GP Access After Hours
• Mental Health Services including headspace Newcastle, Commonwealth Psychosocial Support and psychology services
• NDIS Services including Group Programs, Level 3 Specialist Support Coordination, Positive Behaviour Support, Psychology and Allied Health including dietitians, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists and social workers. Connect.

We’re proud to see the impact of our Coordinated Respiratory Support program being recognised by our partners.
A Senior Staff Specialist from Hunter New England Local Health District recently shared this feedback about our Respiratory Support Nurse, Janine, and the difference this program is making in Muswellbrook.
By coordinating care around the whole person, we’re helping people better manage asthma, COPD and other lung conditions, closer to home.

Meet Gareth, Accredited Practising Dietitian and Credentialed Diabetes Educator who supports NDIS participants to turn nutrition knowledge into real, achievable everyday actions. From cooking skills to smarter takeaway choices, Gareth focuses on practical, client-centred strategies that respect participant autonomy and support long-term change.
With specialised training in the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM), Gareth brings a deep understanding of complex developmental trauma and how it can shape adult life. His approach to nutrition supports post-traumatic growth, helping participants build capacity and achieve meaningful, sustainable outcomes.

If you or someone in your family is living with asthma or a lung condition, drop in and speak with our Respiratory Registered Nurse, Janine. Janine will be at local Muswellbrook shopping centres offering free information, support and advice to help you better manage your respiratory health.

What’s on this Youth Week?
Hear from our Community Development Officer, Byron, from Headspace Newcastle as he shares everything happening this week for Youth Week and the school holidays 🙌
From creative activities to ways to connect with others, there’s something for everyone. It’s a great chance for young people in our community to get involved, try something new and have some fun in a safe and supportive space.

This week’s First Nations face-to-face Shared Health Appointment highlighted the power of shared space and connection. Lukkas, Aboriginal Health Worker, and Zanita, Group Facilitator, did an amazing job facilitating a respectful and meaningful cultural discussion for the 11 participants and 2 carers who attended. These appointments are offered as part of our Care Coordination & Supplementary Services program.
A special moment came from Kim, who is celebrating her first week of retirement and brought in a cake to thank the Hunter Primary Care team for their support. Kim reflected on how early support through our program helped her get her health back on track and reach her long-term goals.

As our Senior Administrator, you’ll lead day-to-day operations, support clinicians, and help create a welcoming, safe experience for every guest.

We had a great evening at Soul Hub Newcastle this week celebrating an important milestone for our team and community. We were proud to recognise eight Hunter Primary Care staff who have recently completed the Open Dialogue Centre’s Foundation Course, an exciting step in bringing this collaborative, relationship-focused approach to mental healthcare to our region.
It was fantastic to be joined by the team from the Open Dialogue Centre, along with local partners and organisations, to connect, share and explore what Open Dialogue could mean for our community.
Thank you to the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network for supporting this work and helping us strengthen connected, person-centred care across the region.
